#fys03xu Some of the scenes in this book were really confusing to me because I thought they could have been explained more. For example, I was confused how all her friends just died, and then in the second half of the book the Meduse turned human-loving.

#fys03xu Overall, Binti was a good and unique book. I am glad that I was able to get exposed to African futurism and learn more about it. Although I found the book to be confusing at times, I believe it was a great first dive into the world of African futurism.

@AdamMaida15 #fys03xu I felt like there were definitely some gaps that left me feeling confused. Not everything was explained. She may have wanted us to use our own imaginations to fill in those gaps, but I just felt like the whole story was rushed.

@YungerAlex I had never seen anything like Pumzi before, but I am glad that I did. Not only was it a very good short film that I enjoyed watching, but I also think it helped give a clearer picture or example of what Afrofuturism looks like.

@YungerAlex #fys03xu I really liked the Ted Talk as well. I feel like it gave a clearer definition and insight on what Afrofuturism is, and it especially explained why it is important.

#fys03xu Pumzi was super cool. I believe it was the first Afrofuturism film that I have ever seen, and I really enjoyed it. It gave me better insight into was Afrofuturism is about. It is sci-fi, and it uses African main characters to tell a story.

#fys03xu "This idea of leaving but bringing and then becoming more is at one of the hearts of Afrofuturism." Okorafor helps us through her definition of Afrofuturism. It uses African characters to help eliminate single stories by creating strong independent African characters.

#fys03xu The article "Afrofuturism or Africanfuturism? Which is it" helps us see the importance of Afrofuturism. It helps eliminate the single story of the Black community that involves hardship and powerlessness and focuses on imagination, the future, and liberation!
