@Dave_Eby To be clear, taxes are higher than pure big oil profits per litre.
Taxes ~15-25% of the price. Pure oil company profit usually ~5-15% (variable); retail takes a smaller cut.
Seems like there’s 2 partners taking a slice here but only one is actually providing gas or value
@JennyKwanBC What about the current AG of BC? Like you say, ‘People in British Columbia deserve leadership that rejects prejudice and division.’
It seems as if BC’s justice system is run by an overt racist. This is completely unacceptable
@yonkojohn We had a renewable project where they asked for 12% GROSS revenue without providing any equity to the project themselves.
Makes the projects completely unfinanceable
@Prominent_Bryan@TNorrisBC They told me I didn’t have to show my ID as I was about to hand it to them. Said if I had my voter card that came in the mail ID was not required
@koicows It’s the assertion that by taking 55.5% of my income above $265k, the state is more entitled to the majority of my work output than I am or my family is.
And then, that capital is then completely wasted and allocated inefficiently by gov’t.
Enough is enough.
@theserfstv It’s the assertion that by taking 55.5% of my income above $265k, the state is more entitled to the majority of my work output than I am or my family is which is ludicrous.
And then, that capital is completely wasted and allocated inefficiently by the gov’t.
Enough is enough.
@JoshuaKnaak It’s not just the assertion that by taking 55.5% of my income above $265k, the state thinks it’s more entitled to the majority of my work output than I am or my family is.
And then, that capital is then completely wasted and allocated inefficiently.
Enough is enough.
@JimboStanford It’s the assertion that by taking 55.5% of my income above $265k, the state is more entitled to the majority of my work output than I am or my family is.

@MPelletierCIO@amboultbee Bingo! It’s the assertion that by taking 55.5% of my income above $265k, the state is more entitled to the majority of my work output than I am or my family is.
And then, to top it off, that capital is then completely wasted and allocated inefficiently.
Enough is enough.
@amboultbee Yes. It’s the assertion that by taking 55.5% of my income above $265k, you (the state) is more entitled to the majority of my work output than I am or my family is.
And then, to top it off, that capital is then completely wasted and allocated inefficiently.
Enough is enough.
@nationalpost Forget the top bracket for a second, it’s 55.5% above the equivalent of $186k USD! No way BC is going to attract anybody to move here.
Eby is implying at those rates that the state has more of a right to your money (they take the majority) than you and your family do.
Wild!
@MattIlich Bingo. Just the premise of the state having more of a right to your work output than you or your family is insane, but 57.5% over $1M is madness. 🤯
@WillMaartman@8vcx7x0t But isn’t the minimum required income to own the average house in Vancouver $265k?
Don’t you see how destructive the NDP’s policies have been to our economy? Your idea of wealthy at $190k doesn’t even qualify for a mortgage to buy an average house!
@talliwagger@Nowers_@GangstaOtter@matt_kercher Good ol’ Billy is doing his best to bring some commen sense to you here, so I’ll go back to my original question: How much is your “fair share” of taxes?
If it’s over 50%, why should the state have more of a claim on someone’s work output than they or their family do? 😵💫
