When compared with last year demand as of today we will cross 21,000 MW, this increase ratio was same from last months due to increase in temperature .

Peak demand chart which you have mentioned (20321 MW) was the peak demand reached on 24th April 2025.

Demand at a particular time and peak demand are two different things

Tamil Nadu will purchase electricity at ₹35 per unit until October 31 to meet rising demand, Electricity Minister Nirmal Kumar says.

The state plans to buy 1,500 MW of power from outside, as supplies expected from the Centre and NLC have fallen short. The temporary arrangement will cost an additional ₹5 crore per day, with the minister warning that power cuts of 2-3 hours could occur without these purchases.
