It’s really a shame that Joe Biden had the time to aimlessly wander around Ukraine but couldn’t find the time to come visit the people here in East Palestine.
Probably the best introductory text on modern statistical learning I have read so far. Great for non-economists (like me) too. Highly recommended

If I am not answering your email, it's because I'm working on new (free) lectures to begin in January 2022. Fewer examples, but more workflow details and lots of new animation. I'll update this repo as the schedule and materials assemble: https://t.co/IYkC79hoH8
Tendency towards more and more complex + interactive visualisations is good but sometimes simple plots are effective early in projects. Loving the use of base #RStats and the {sf} package to plot() regional travel data in West Yorkshire. Work in progress 🏗️
We published a new article at https://t.co/y5ywFOfBdH describing {belg}, an #rstats package for calculating Boltzmann entropy for continuous rasters.
Complete code and data to recreate examples are also available at https://t.co/ARkPUdMMi0.

Do you use R for landscape ecology?
@MHKHesselbarth and I prepared a short survey at https://t.co/U2Xujy2nMP to learn more about your workflows, what packages you use, and what you are missing.
Please fill it and share with others. Thanks!

New #rstats package preview: {mapboxapi}. Use @Mapbox web services APIs in your #rspatial data science projects. Check out some examples at https://t.co/p5g15fHpxe and in the thread below
A statement by @vtgeosciences on the recent tragic events. "The Department of Geosciences stands with those who have suffered, and continue to suffer, from the long history of injustice in our society."

Big congrats to these @UT_PGE#oilandgas quiz masters who placed fourth in the regional PetroBowl tournament at USC qualifying them for the @SPEtweets international competition this fall in Denver!
The University of Texas at Austin, @UTAustin, invited faculty to share stories to promote a culture of #mentorship. I love it! As a new #professor (recently moved from industry) I felt compelled to share my experience and most importantly my appreciation. Here's to the mentors!
@GeostatsGuy@UTAustin@UT_PGE@CockrellSchool Thank you Dr.Pyrcz for sharing your stories! You’re a true mentor and a great role model! It’s amazing what you accomplished in less than three years as a professor, our research group is now 12 strong! Blessed to have you as my advisor!
I found adding reference to paper that submitting to IEEE journals is exhausting. Many times I need go back and change the reference number when adding new references. Any helpful tips? #Gradschool
@A_S_Qh@GeostatsGuy Variograms are used to quantify spatial correlations, combined with kriging, you can generate pressure map from your available data from sample wells in a study area.
I wrote some thoughts about the application of #MachineLearning in the context of subsurface modeling and development decision making. Data paucity, unavoidable interpretation, complicated physics and expensive decisions all pose unique challenges. https://t.co/FLcHjTC00t
