Building value propositions requires understanding:
(1) What they are trying to do (Use Case)
(2) How they are doing it (Current Way)
(3) Limitation of Current Way
(4) Problem (Blocker of Progress)
๐ Content Scanning Patterns
Nice visual summary of popular content scanning patterns on the web and mobile (from F-shaped pattern to Commitment pattern)
This is what the ad platform of the future looks like.
TikTok is releasing Symphony, it's Creative AI Suite.
This is going to level the playing field for advertisers around the world and build multiple 8-9 figure success stories.
- Remember how $$$ it was to work with creators for UGC footage?
- Did you have to go back and forth to make sure they understood the brief?
- Tired of how long creative production costs?
Those days will soon be over.
I fully expect Meta to follow with their own solution.
As I've been saying, Ads 2.0 looks a lot like SEO 2.0 with the cost of content going to ZERO.
Hey design friends.
Please remember there are real people behind products like @figma and @Adobe.
If you have issues with their choices (as I sometimes do), remember that in the mix they are balancing an immense set of priorities and your frustration can be packaged in kindness.
Don't be a dick. Choose curiosity.
Tools that are supportive in communicating frustration:
My observation is ____________.
When ______ happened (as a camera sees it),
I felt/feel __________.
(Anger, sadness, frustrated, annoyance, embarrassed)
The story I make up is ____________________.
This is your perception. None of us can know reality. That's impossibly complex given every angle/time/priority/need/goal.
My request is _________.
I used to believe that the Best Product Managers had a unique set of skills that were out of reach for average PMs.
But after observing the top 1% for years, I realized their secret is surprisingly simple:
Just 10 habits they do consistently.
And anyone can copy them.
Every PM should know the Double Diamond by heart.
But using it is an easy way to fail as a PM.
Itโs a highly linear process without any feedback loops.
And it ends with launching a product. So, it doesn't represent Product Discovery.

A few days ago, I hired a designer to work with me 1:1.
I didn't do a formal interview.
โข He didn't go to design school
โข He had 230 followers on X
โข No 5+ years of experience
โข No portfolio
I went through his profile, he had decent work on his timeline and talked to him over DM.
He got it, and he was more than willing to work.
This is a hill I'll die on:
Hire for attitude, fire for attitude. Skills can be taught.
After working with so many founders, I've realized that some of them don't know how to give feedback properly, they're rude, and they micromanage everything.
That's a lesson learned for me.
I'll never be that kind of founder to someone else.
I want people to have fun working with me and feel fulfilled.
โข I don't care about their traditional qualifications.
โข I don't care which time zone they work from.
โข I don't care if they work at 5 am or 10 pm.
โข I trust them to do their job well.
As a founder, it's important to create an environment where people feel valued, respected, and trusted.
Micromanaging and being rude will only breed resentment and kill creativity.
Instead, focus on hiring people with the right attitude โ those who are eager to learn, open to feedback, and committed to the vision.
Give people a chance, even if they don't tick all the traditional boxes.
Sometimes, the most talented individuals come from unexpected places.
Provide them with the resources, guidance, and support they need to grow and thrive.
Trust them to do their work, and they'll reward you with their loyalty and dedication.
Foster a positive, supportive culture, and you'll attract and retain the best talent โ people who will feel fulfilled and have fun working with you.
