Judge a team not when they're flying but when they're not and they change things in real time. Villa did.

Outplayed, outfought in the first half, the defensive high line, like first at Forest just seemed like pure indulgence of a philosophy rather than in game reality.

Second half the manager changed personel, demanded the team take up a midway defensive line instead of kamikaze half way line. Enabled just enough of a buffer for defenders to be comfy in being aggressive, second balls were won a lot more which then enabled midfielders to have enough ball to start to create as the second half wore on. Gap between central defenders and forwards wasn't too much , we looked like a different team.

Some Villa fans will want gung ho on away days and "that's the way we play", but we could realistically achieve something this season and those away points and that away second half could be the difference between being talked about as a good side and proving we are. That came about ONLY because Unai looked at the big picture, didn't like it and employed just a little more pragmatism, something the Premier League DEMANDS at times.

Fully expect us to still play a high line against teams that we feel we can outscore on away days, but against the best teams, play more like that second half. Deeper, but not so deep that there a huge gap from Konza to Ollie.
