@EOEboh Real-world problem I've come across where the leading zero causes Java to interpret it as base 8 instead of base 10. This resulted in two area codes being interpreted as the same number.
@code_bytein IIRC postgres uses a sequestion record versioning. UPDATE would only run INSERT creating the updated copy with a new version. DELETE for cleaning up the old record version is handled by the periodic vacuum process.
