The analysis here is just a bit off. Tillman does something I have never actually witnessed: Tillman delivered a top-spin-only ball from a free kick.

You see this spin on volleys sometimes. I have never seen it in a free kick.

You see knuckle balls on free kicks all the time. Ronaldo does them quite well. This was not that.

This is basically a Dwight Gooden curve ball. Over the top. 12 to 6.

Messi places side+top spinners in the corner. But I haven’t seen him pull off a top-spin only.

Like I said. I have never witnessed this from a dead ball.
