"The 10 highest-paid [healthcare] CEOs... made a combined $1.4 billion, or about a third of the total studied. That amount is roughly what the National Institutes of Health spends annually to study drug abuse and addiction." -STAT+ https://t.co/Y7GNtiX2Tl
The number of people I meet who lament about the horrors of food waste while regularly gorging themselves on CAFO burgers and wings is absolutely staggering. No food is inherently more wasteful than factory farmed meat. Please retweet if you agree. https://t.co/ltgNW4CcRi
@b_mmoorhead I feel some of your pain. I suffered a lot of anxiety taking our too young to be vaccinated (but able to wear a mask) daughter back to school.
@kaptinMD@Nursing_Heretic @JazmynShaw1 But, as @AlanPlotzker noted, controlled trials had been done (https://t.co/VCSTKrsmBY) prior to this program being implemented. Since those results were positive (and patients actually reported greater satisfaction with NPs), wouldn't this be a case of following the science?
@AlanPlotzker@TNFa15@StevenBradleyMD@tessajoliver @JazmynShaw1 Speculation and jumping to conclusions is a disservice to those who stand to be harmed, especially when, as in this case, the alternative is that the practice being questioned might actually be benefitting that same group. Thanks for providing citations to ground this discussion.
I'm back from a week at my mom's house and now I'm getting ads for her toothpaste brand, the brand I've been putting in my mouth for a week. We never talked about this brand or googled it or anything like that.
As a privacy tech worker, let me explain why this is happening. 🧵
@slidingblade @TAMU_Coastal @ReynoldsNerd @ConserveChange (4) if a student really wanted to cheat, the accomplice could step outside the room while the student panned for the committee, then step back into the room. So even if there were a legitimate concern, this would be an ineffective solution.
@slidingblade @TAMU_Coastal @ReynoldsNerd @ConserveChange (3) as several others have alluded to, the defense is largely a formality, to the extent that some in academia have actually proposed altering or eliminating it, so suspecting someone of cheating on it is a little silly;
@slidingblade @TAMU_Coastal @ReynoldsNerd @ConserveChange (2) in many places, public transportation and access to campus during the pandemic have been restricted and many people are not particularly comfortable with either, even if they are permitted to use them
@slidingblade @TAMU_Coastal @ReynoldsNerd @ConserveChange (1) Many universities, like the one where I work, have international students (or even domestic students that live on the other side of the country) that have not been able to return to campus during the pandemic, so using any spaces at the library or university is out;
