@SER1897 I'm thinking about this a lot. I don't have a good sense yet as to how much of this is trusting Republicans vs. Democrats, as opposed to trusting white men who seem confident they know what they're talking about vs. everyone else.
@magi_jay It's totally understandable for us to be grieving the death of the ideal scenarios. All we can really do while ballots are counted is to try to find the emotional capacity to process the anger, frustration, sadness, hope, and optimism—all at the same time.
@magi_jay And one of their huge failings was in buying in to and parroting every attempt that government made to play at moderation.
That's what I see today's reporters failing at. When Trump hand waves at being pro-women, journalists must not just report "Trump says he supports women."
@magi_jay That's not to say the NYT or even Enderis actively liked the Nazis and wanted to help them. They probably didn't! But they allowed themselves to follow the incentives and talked themselves in to this being the best way for them to do their jobs.
@magi_jay I can understand the psychology of someone who thinks the most powerful lever they have to pull is withholding their vote, but there's no evidence that's a more effective catalyst for change than voting for the most aligned option and trying to influence them when in office.
@magi_jay You are a beautiful multi-faceted human whom I've enjoyed and appreciated following—and occasionally corresponding with!—for years and I've been so happy to see from afar as you've connected with your Person.
@SER1897 The way he's trying to play off being a journalist writing "wrongly claimed" about a presidential candidate as if he's just talking about obscure trivia for fun makes me so angry.
@Bencjacobs@klbeee Do you really expect people to see a journalist writing the words "wrongly claimed" about something a presidential candidate said to interpret it as "oh, he's just talking about obscure trivia?"
@magi_jay I think you're right about all this (including the slavery component in this case).
I keep coming back to two unfortunate conclusions:
1. The press can not seem to escape this false-equivalency trap.
2. Attacking the press, as Trump does, ... works.
@DoctorAngry I echo other people's advise about being very, very cautious about resuming exercise and physical exertion, no matter how much you may want to or how excited you might feel when you get little bursts of energy you want to use.
