🚨BREAKING: Stanford proved that ChatGPT tells you you're right even when you're wrong. Even when you're hurting someone.
And it's making you a worse person because of it.
Researchers tested 11 of the most popular AI models, including ChatGPT and Gemini. They analyzed over 11,500 real advice-seeking conversations. The finding was universal. Every single model agreed with users 50% more than a human would.
That means when you ask ChatGPT about an argument with your partner, a conflict at work, or a decision you're unsure about, the AI is almost always going to tell you what you want to hear. Not what you need to hear.
It gets darker. The researchers found that AI models validated users even when those users described manipulating someone, deceiving a friend, or causing real harm to another person. The AI didn't push back. It didn't challenge them. It cheered them on.
Then they ran the experiment that changes everything. 1,604 people discussed real personal conflicts with AI. One group got a sycophantic AI. The other got a neutral one.
The sycophantic group became measurably less willing to apologize. Less willing to compromise. Less willing to see the other person's side. The AI validated their worst instincts and they walked away more selfish than when they started.
Here's the trap. Participants rated the sycophantic AI as higher quality. They trusted it more. They wanted to use it again. The AI that made them worse people felt like the better product.
This creates a cycle nobody is talking about. Users prefer AI that tells them they're right. Companies train AI to keep users happy. The AI gets better at flattering. Users get worse at self-reflection. And the loop tightens.
Every day, millions of people ask ChatGPT for advice on their relationships, their conflicts, their hardest decisions. And every day, it tells almost all of them the same thing.
You're right. They're wrong.
Even when the opposite is true.
We're live on @ProductHunt all day with our launch of Dopt Analytics! 🚀

Last week, we hosted a PLG happy hour at the Dopt office and had a panel with @meagan (Head of Product at @render) and @japnasethi (Head of Monetization at @otter_ai). They’ve worked at some of the leading PLG SaaS companies: Figma, Slack, Dropbox, Webflow, Productboard.
For Saastr after hours, we're hosting a PLG Happy Hour with @Unusual_VC on Sep 7 in downtown Oakland 🙌! Come hang with other builders, investors, and generally fun people in our historic-bank-turned-office.
We'll be chatting about:
1️⃣ Does self-serve AI have a retention problem?
2️⃣ What's the new bar for growth rounds in product-led Saas?
3️⃣ What are the best engineering teams doing to drive growth?

I’ve secretly 🤫 been using a new product every week that is now live for everyone.
Today we are launching Reforge Artifacts and it’s completely free 🆓. Take a look 👇
Artifacts let you access the real work from those who have done it before, so you’ll never have to start from scratch. Some examples:
👆 Product Review Systems from Casey Winters, Tom Willerer, and others
🧠 Product Strategy and Roadmaps from Adam Fishman and Sachin Rekhi
🪜 Career Leveling Guides from Julie Zhou, Barron Ernst, and Kevan Lee
🧪 Growth + Product Experiments from Lauryn Isford, Matt Woods, and Ben Williams
📈 Quantitative analyses from John Egan, Dan Wolchonok, and Yousuf Bhaijee
🧐 User research projects from Amber Rucker, Mike Fiorillo, Shelly Eisen-Livneh
And sooooo many more.
You can sign up here → https://t.co/zcearP8HBR
Preview some artifacts here → https://t.co/VJpV8Q3HoT
These are NOT blank templates. Artifacts are the real work that contain the substance, nuance, insights, and realness.
Here are a few things you can do with Artifacts:
🔎 Find artifacts relevant to what you are working on
💡 Access notes from the creator about the story, lessons, and insights
⭐️ Save artifacts and share them with colleagues
🔁 Remix artifacts to create your own version
Artifacts is such a simple but powerful idea I can’t believe we didn’t think of it before. I’ve wasted so much time recreating something thousands of others have already done.
Artifacts can help accelerate a lot of work (like open-source code) by enabling building on each other.
Would love to know what you think.

I spent last weekend in @shreyas PM Career course and have to say I loved the candidness, transparency, and real talk throughout the seminar. Highly recommend it, especially to those who are mid-stage in their PM career.
Having worked with/in many product teams, we all know how to collect and visualize data. But very few times have I seen the ability to synthesize various data across the business and generate true insights. Thats why I decided to invest in Loops. Congrats team!
We have so much data that we often can't make sense of it or act fast enough. I invested in @headsupai because using this data to power GTM motions is the next frontier of #productledgrowth#productledsales. Congrats to @momoeureka@earlvlee and team for their $8.5m seed round!
Today we are announcing our $8.5m seed round. It’s only a start, and we couldn’t be more excited by the prospect of changing how go-to-market is done in SaaS.
@shreyas This is 100% my experience.
What’s worse. Those who look to blame or find scapegoats find those of us who internalize failures as easy targets. And we believe it.
