@Malnormalulo @DrGoldfire So like, if you want to assess whether your time/energy will be valued in a community, you might look at who's in charge, are there documented ways to behave (CoC) and to build influence, do you see core people mentoring and welcoming newbies. Same as any IRL volunteer gig. hth
@Malnormalulo @DrGoldfire idk, the value of a CoC isn't measured by the number of bans, it's more about setting boundaries that help codify a culture that leads to many different kinds of people feeling welcomed and growing into positions of influence/power within the community/project.
@DrGoldfire oh definitely! the irony of saying "some readers" have an "almost sacred" need for an enforceable CoC document, while the author seems to feel it is wholly appropriate to apply medieval benedictine ethical codes to...an embedded database project...it's contributor repellant
@scott0852 @alecaddd @headassbtw@firefox hi! you can disable pocket / promoted sites in firefox too, and telemetry is disabled by default (except nightly IIRC, where it's one click, easy to disable)
@DrEricDing@CDCgov@DrEricDing Is there a link / official publication for this CDC policy change? The only place I see these phrases online is in this tweet and copies of it
@Sifill_LDF Yup, with the Ginni Thomas news breaking same day, the future of Mitch's extremist SCOTUS majority is unclear:
* if Ginni's other texts reveal blatant quid pro quo, Thomas will have to resign
* DOJ/FBI could really investigate Kavanaugh at any time
@1Password@phantom@solana ugh, what an incredibly stupid idea. go roast the planet with somebody else's money, I'm canceling my subscription immediately. incredibly disappointed.
@mostlygeek Yeah, I've heard about *fast* desktop build times, and I assume the ARM CPU uses less power => less heat => likely fewer component failures. And, maybe macos will improve once they deprecate x86? And not having to migrate photos & phones would be great...and better β¨οΈ too...π€
@sayhello Yeah, lots of people are excited about the M1s. But the new arch still has all the OS bugs; you'd hardly believe it was based on BSD at this point. And I'm getting into VR/AR, the whole ecosystem is windows-based. Just IMO not worth the premium price any longer π€·ββοΈ
@yoshuawuyts lol OG JS!
* Classes desugar to prototypes, try em!
* arrow fns mostly free you to stop writing `self = this`
* consts are nice
* WeakMaps/Sets are so nice for letting sloppy users accidentally forget to disconnect listeners as they go out of scope w/o introducing memory leaks
