Senator Tillis called Congress a "board of directors" yesterday, and I have long thought that's the best way to think about the legislature in our separation of power system.

@winghunt@SeanTrende Sean IS a slight partisan hack. Less than most. And usually fair. But definitely partisan. He's also a worthy follow if you are interested in politics.
@constans@DerekPederson3 I don't know how deeply I would argue, but I DO think Biden did not and does not have dementia.
There is just a difference, IMO, between saying he was too old to run for President again and should never had tried and saying he was decrepit in the WH and should have resigned.
@BarfootStephen@reclinernerd@JaredB_BSBL All the more reason to have fun at the pool.
Look, I have a kid in travel soccer, so I have been in travel sports.
IF the primary reason for this is because they lost (and not other possibilities listed in this thread) then the coach is being abusive. I would report and run.
@NiceJackIn2026@JaredB_BSBL Not sure I would support, but I could at least understand saying, "We looked exhausted. Avoid the pool to get good rest." Anything else is just abusive coaching.
@TigerWill06 Memphis has been a pretty good city/ franchise for the Cards. Tend to think the REAL solution will be cooler heads finding a compromise here.
@AlexMLeo@melmc31@JonahDispatch If the GOP holds the Senate, I think it pretty likely that one or both will retire before a Dem could win the WH in 2028.
@nikicaga Not to mention the idea that there are no SCOTUS picks on the horizon is quite speculative. Even IF Alito and Thomas don't retire this year, they are pretty old. They certainly won't willingly retire when they could not be replaced, but life happens.
@bethanyshondark Of course, the question isn't whether or not you think he will show great judgment in the Senate, just whether or not you think he will show better judgment than Susan Collins.
Honestly, if Trump was just as much of a scumbag as he is, but that didn't interfere with his job as President and he held views I agreed with, I'd vote for him over someone who was worse at the job of President and/or had views I disagreed with.
If Trump's personal failings were limited to his personal life, I'd consider voting for him. I think Bill Clinton was a good president, even if he is a less-than-ideal human being. I'd probably vote for him again if he were running, at least in the general.
However, Trump's scumbag-ness bleeds heavily into his job performance. He is constantly placing his own interests over those of the country and even his own supporters, abused the power he has been granted to go after his personal and political enemies, and generally corrupting every institution he touches. That's bad.
Platner also seems like a less-than-ideal human. I probably wouldn't be super thrilled if her were dating my daughter(even if she weren't 11), but I'm not concerned that his personal failing will have much impact on the country with him being the junior Senator from Maine.
OTOH, I am quite concerned that the current senior Senator from Maine's voting record will.
@RealScienceX@BradfemlyWalsh I mean, it is a bit of an obnoxious response, you are correct. But so is the OP's idea that actually following instructions in preschool is unmanly.
@daveweigel The GOP has no play that is not culture war stuff. Texas is Texas, so maybe it will work. (Or maybe it won't and Talarico will lose anyway because Texas is so red.) But their confidence is not the same as it being a good call for the GOP. Hasn't worked much outside if 24.
