Strewth its going to be a wet Xmas Day in Queensland not great news for the cane growers struggling to finish the harvest. Through 19th Dec just under 30.7M tonnes of cane had been crushed out of available supply of 33.5M tonnes.

Rain disrupted harvesting in Australia over the past week and a half. Photo shows a good crop of cane near Atherton on the Tablelands, under gloomy skies earlier this week. Rain has now cleared, many will be hoping it stays that way for a while.

Huge changes in Holland. On Friday the government made legislation which will mean changes of stocking and N use. Up to 95% less. Lots of farmers are very upset. But they will find solutions I’m sure. Here we learnt how they will stop peat lands from sinking. Very clever

Rain makes cane and Thailand has received plenty this season. Whether they recover back to 120M tonnes in 22/23 remains to be seen. Recent cane tours show the cane in great condition. Anything above 110M would be a significant improvement. 135M in 23/24? #Wachira
