Not a single positive underlying metric
.666 OPS on the season
Caught stealing about every game and an overall negative run value baserunner
That dam pest man! He just does stuff and makes stuff happen! We love him and he can never do any wrong
Here's some more "dramatic video": The Sknyliv air show disaster of 2002. A Su-27 fighter crashed directly into a densely packed spectator area after losing control during an unauthorized low-altitude maneuver. 77 killed. 500 injured.
Hilarious how awful this Yankees offense has looked since Grisham went down.
I wonder if all of the angry fans right now will admit they were wrong about bringing him back 🤔
At some point, not having your starting DH, RF, CF and 3B was going to catch up with you. I fully believe in this team if they can get healthy and make the necessary adjustments at the deadline
Aaron Judge said he kept playing because guys like Stanton and Max Fried were hurt and the #Yankees needed him and this is what they pay him for.
Then I gotta listen to people say he’s not a leader and a captain. That’s what a leader and a captain does.
Let’s be honest about something else too. A guy sits out with something that’s perceived to be minor and he gets killed for not being tough enough. Aaron Judge played through a broken freakin rib and it’s “why didn’t he say anything sooner”.
It’s unfortunate and we’re gonna miss watching this guy play baseball for the next couple of months but I don’t fault him or the Yankees for how any of this was handled.
“Ben Rice should catch” is a take you will soon be hearing all over Yankees Twitter.
Hard pass.
Catching is the most physically grueling role in baseball. The chronic fatigue it causes compromises the lower-body. When a hitter’s legs are "dead" from catching, he cannot generate the same force into the ground. This delays hip rotation, slows down the hands, and causes a measurable drop in bat speed as the game and season progress.
Ben has unlocked something special. Potentially generational. The Yankees shouldn’t risk throwing that away.
Would you let Aaron Judge catch, even if he could? Of course not. Wells is a huge problem, but this ain’t the answer.
