@joshuamschultz Have used @ynab for ~3 yrs and love it for budgeting and spend/net worth tracking. The marketing is geared more towards folks with limited experience managing finances, but it’s excellent for all experience/income levels. Great tool and an even better philosophy of budgeting.
Relatively simple, but certainly not easy. Appreciate this accessible and actionable framework, @WilsonCompanies. This is an excellent complement to @laughridge’s thread on buying a SMB.
This is a very long thread. @SamtLeslie asked to give the playbook for service companies so here it is. Follow it and you’ll get to 5M+ in a few years.
This is pure operations playbook.
No leadership, financial or HR discussion. Enjoy.
My conversation with the great @samhinkie on finding your people.
We discuss:
- compounding capital, wisdom and trust
- following breadcrumbs
- playing the long game
- his new firm, Eighty-Seven Capital
An all time favorite. Enjoy!

I like this. Chasing efficiency/productivity solely for their own sakes = great way to burn out. As @patrick_oshag (or an @InvestLikeBest guest?) says, "optimize for joy." Joy begets sustainable, long-term productivity.

A Few Things I'm Pretty Sure About
Most jobs would benefit from at least 1 a day month where you did nothing but think. No meetings, no calls, no deliverables. Just a seat on the couch thinking about what’s working, what’s not, and what to do about it.

@StrongpointRich@aebridgeman@laughridge@sweatystartup@ynab Certainly can be the case, depending on your desired level of granularity (I.e., how many spending categories do you want to track?). I made the mistake of getting too granular at the outset, but have since settled into a routine that takes ~15 min/month.
OK, people.
Listen up.
Put down whatever you're doing.
Go to a quiet place.
Read this 👇 carefully.
It is the deepest and most moving thing you will read this week.
Then ponder your own life and luck.
You will be wiser for it.
