These trauma surgeons thought they’d seen the worst of the worst. But nothing they’d experienced prepared them for the horrors they found in Gaza, as civilians and children suffer under Israel’s bombing campaign.

Israel committed 4 massacres within 20 minutes today against Palestinians in Gaza. Bisan is arguing that Israel's new strategy consists of launching several massacres at once so at least one evades media attention.
Trucks carrying medical supplies denied entry into the #Gaza by the Israeli authorities on July 3 due to ongoing fighting in the south.
We have been unable to bring any medical supplies since the end of April.
Hospitals continue to grapple with acute shortages of supplies.
ccny campus magazine livestream is genuinely incredible, they’re reading out police badge numbers + names and getting people in the chat to search complaints filed against them, then reading the complaints back out loud to the cops 😭
@iobjournal@jehimes@ICB_journal As a scientific illustrator, I am well aware of the debates around what is and is not art; we've had them for centuries. "What is real art? Can anyone be an artist?" is not at the heart of why people are asking you, a scientific journal, to reconsider AI use.
This is actually the perfect representation of the "debate" about trans healthcare because one of these books is edited by two medical doctors and the other is written by a former Wall St Journal columnist who went on Joe Rogan
@iobjournal@jehimes@ICB_journal There are legal and ethical elements at play here beyond whether an individual finds AI art to be art, or interesting, or anything of that nature.
@iobjournal@jehimes@ICB_journal Thank you, though I'd note that "AI art is built on stolen data" and "AI does not know scientific content" do not fall under "art is subjective."
Art integrity is an aspect of journalistic integrity and I hope you will reconsider your policies like other journals (eg. Nature)
@iobjournal@Big_Biology@SICB_ This cover is so disappointing. Looks flashy but has absolutely no substance, just cheap, lazy AI—obvious incorrect anatomy on the bird, branching and incoherent DNA, jumbled text. Why do scientists want to portray their hard work in such a scientifically empty way?
the creator of this esims project posted that they are desperately low on esims for holafly! please make a donation, it keeps gaza from going dark and has been used to save lives!
"I asked people who were neutral or pro-🇮🇱 but now support Palestine what made them change their mind."
These are some of the responses, add your own if you want 🧵

@Delilah08905106 @AMNH Oh fabulous, thank you! :D
That was one of my guesses given the teeth and tinting but the specimen seemed a little small—like golden retriever size. I honed in on the skull quickly so I guess I didn’t really look!
ID request. Anyone know who this good boy is?
Seeking a fairly confident ID, not a guess. It’s from the canine relatives display on the 4th floor of @AMNH. I was drawing it tonight but forgot to check the labels. 🥲
