Rest in Power, Michael Parenti.

Dr. Parenti had a brilliant and unmatched ability to break down complex themes around class and power, and in doing so, expose the falsehoods upon which capitalism and imperialism are built. He had a transformational impact on so many people, myself included.

He also wrote poetry. At the back of his book Dirty Truths are three poems. One of them, "To My Son as I Contemplate My Death", is especially beautiful.

I'm grateful for the opportunities I had to meet Dr. Parenti, listen to him speak, and even share breakfast with him on one occasion at the Fredericton airport. His recorded lectures will continue to keep me in the best of company on long drives.
