Not every alert needs to wake someone up at 2 am during the weekend. Some can wait until Monday morning.

Most on-call tools give teams two options for low-urgency alerts: page someone or send it to a Slack channel where it dies quietly.

Rootly On-Call now has Deferred Paging.

Add a deferral path to any escalation policy. Define the window when paging should wait (nights, weekends, custom schedules) and what happens when that window closes.

The alert gets logged, shows up in Slack, and waits. Monday at 9am it pages the right path automatically.
Alerts that get acknowledged, escalated, or resolved before the window ends are never re-paged. Manual pages are never deferred.
