For more than 20 years, teams around the world have taken our Five Dysfunctions of a Team Assessment. One challenge keeps rising to the top: avoidance of accountability. Even the best teams struggle with it.
Contrary to what many people think, accountability isn’t just the leader’s job. As leaders, we have to set the example, but even more importantly, we need to help our team members feel comfortable holding one another accountable. Peer pressure is the most effective form of accountability on a team.
Build a healthy team. Discover where your team can improve with The Five Dysfunctions of a Team Assessment.

@elliottmgmt great job ruining @SouthwestAir ... please go back to whatever hole you crawled out of. I've never seen a brand implode so quickly as what you've singlehandedly done to SWAir. Assigned seats, special seat class, charging for bags, layoffs...
This is an overly simplified example of the unfair tax issue Software Firms are facing with changes to IRS Section 174 R&D expense deduction. I am paying millions in taxes that I should not have to pay due to this change.
The Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024 solves this problem by continuing the R&D tax deduction that went away on January 1, 2022 and desperately needs renewed!
The bill passed the House of Representatives back in January and moved on to the Senate. The Senate needs to pass the bill and the President needs to sign the bill into law!
The attached graph shows an example company with $1m in annual pre-tax profits and $3m in R&D salaries with US-based software developers doing R&D work. The green line shows how the taxes used to be and what other standard businesses pay and the blue line shows what Software firms are paying today under this example.
So what changed on January 1, 2022? A company doing R&D work with $3m in R&D salaries in the US now had to pay income tax on the $3m in R&D salaries as if they made $3m profit. The company could then claim (depreciate) the cost of the $3m in salaries over six years with 10% being able to get claimed the first year, 20% the next four years, and 10% the sixth year.
Now compound this year after year after year. Now that we are two years into this mess the example company would have paid (for 2022 and 2023) taxes on $2m of profit and $6m in R&D salaries as if they had actually made $8m in profit over those two years.
This is a huge problem!

Lower Taxes - unless you write software

Deficit Reduction... OK.
Improved Competitiveness - unless you write software
Keeping businesses from deducting wages is insane. Do the right thing! @mjwhansen
@neilpatel@ChrisWalker171 do you have some thoughts on this? Neil is saying ramp up paid ads, Chris says paid ads are a dumpster fire. Both experts in the field.
@mcurtis12news@12News Just want to be sure I understand, you are suggesting that parents should pay for public schooling based on their income level? Or they are ok to send their kids to public school for free, but aren't allowed to access the money if they opt to homeschool or send them elsewhere?
Range anxiety, before it was a thing.
How often do we as leaders do this, where we let our emotional tanks run completely empty, giving everything we have until we hit that breaking point?
Or do we keep the tank topped off regularly, exercising self c…https://t.co/oKM2tlT5IJ
I learned a fun term from Ted Lasso s3 this week: Talent Dysmorphia. It's imposter syndrome's evil twin.
I thought, no way this is a real term. It totally is. This article was pretty insightful. I've seen it 3 or 4 times in my ca…https://t.co/QIhCG0sIaa https://t.co/Dg5AcIWcWN
