Nurses are on strike while the CEOs of their hospitals rake in millions.
It was an honor to visit the picket line with @SenSanders and demand a fair contract for NYSNA nurses so they can get back to work.
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital CEO pay: $26.3 million
Montefiore CEO pay: $16.7 million
Mount Sinai CEO pay: $5.4 million
Let’s be clear: These hospitals are not going broke. They can afford to provide their nurses with benefits and safe patient ratios.
Week 2 of the largest nurses strike in NYC history. @SenSanders and I are proud to stand with nurses and union leaders as they fight for the patient ratios, fair contract, and dignity that they deserve.
If NewYork-Presbyterian can afford to give its CEO $26.4 million, if Mount Sinai can spend $100 million on an AI center, if Montefiore can give its CEO $16 million, these hospitals can afford to treat nurses with respect.
I strongly support the 15,000 nurses on strike in NYC.
Nurses show up in our darkest moments. 9/11. The pandemic. Every illness and emergency. Their worth is not negotiable. Fair pay, safe conditions, dignity now. NYC stands with nurses and demands good faith bargaining for justice and care for all.
Nearly 15,000 NYC nurses are fighting for a fair contract to protect patient care.
Shame on NewYork-Presbyterian, Montefiore and Mount Sinai hospitals for being willing to spend millions on replacement nurses rather than bargain for a fair contract.
New York’s private healthcare CEOs pocket millions in salaries while our nurses on the frontlines are overworked and underpaid.
Our communities and nurses deserve better.
I'm proud to stand with @nynurses as they fight for fair contracts and the dignity they deserve.
BREAKING: Today, NYSNA nurses at 12 NYC private sector hospitals and 3 Long Island Northwell Health hospitals delivered 10-day notices to strike. NYSNA will continue to bargain between now and January 12th in the hopes of reaching agreements.
Over 20,000 New York nurses could strike to ring in the new year.
97% of the nurses at 12 NYC hospitals have voted to authorize a strike.
And their contracts expire on December 31st.
At the end of this year, 20,000+ union nurses will be out of contract.
While hospital executives take home massive bonuses, staff is cut and vital services eliminated.
I'm proud to stand with @nynurses in their fight for a fair contract that will improve care for everyone.
