I built a tool to create motion graphics from your codebase.
It's called Midrender.
Here's me recreating an Anthropic-style feature announcement clip (result at the end).

The next version of Rust might be one of the most transformative to the Rust ecosystem due to support for up-casting of trait objects. This makes `Any` significantly more powerful and potent!
We make it ourselves
And make the machine to make it.

Hiring EE, ME, Software , process engineers. We made the machine that puts atoms there, it’s laptop sized and draws 90 watts . Now we’re automating and building 10.

Investing in global health is an unequivocal good: both morally and financially.
You can't trade with countries whose people are dying of malaria.
Mosquito nets, insecticides, and preventative healthcare are inexpensive investments for outsized moral good.
A lot of people are portraying USAID as some sort of bastion of looney DEI excesses. Let’s take a look at what the sudden arresting of their operation is doing to global health. Please read the thread (my thread, not Ryan James’):
it is hard to overstate how much alec radford has contributed to the field, and how much of everyone's current progress traces back to his work.
i believe he is a genius at the level of einstein, and also he is one of my favorite people ever--hard to imagine a nicer, warmer, or more thoughtful person.
he is extremely modest and isn't as well-known as he should be, though i'm certain he doesn't care.
super grateful for everything he has done for openai, and so looking forward to collaborating with him as an independent researcher--i think it will fit his style really well.
@ChShersh Zig is a better C but still doesn’t save me from myself ☹️
It seems like Rust is doing better than ever: Google + Microsoft seeing tangible gains in minimizing CVE count
Rust hasn’t had drama a while - I do think it’s quite overblown and the leaders are doing a great job
YC funds Continue S23.
YC funds PearAI S24.
Pear copy-pastes Continue’s codebase, changes the logo, switches to an enterprise license (illegal!).
Pear’s “competitive advantage” is its “open-source community.”
Does YC not understand how open source works?
Don’t understand why people are dragging a new project when literally it’s open source Apache license and that’s *the reason* why open source is awesome
@garrytan@jqdsouza@boneGPT It’s one thing for a random startup to “fork” an OSS YC company, it’s another thing for YC to *fund* that directly.
As an OSS YC founder, this is really really not cool.
@garrytan@jqdsouza@boneGPT Gary, why is YC funding companies to “fork” other YC companies and pass it off as their own?
Continue is a S23 YC company.
This is not the first time YC funded a company that blatantly resells an S23 company’s work.
@Mammoth Only $4000 for this bad boy???? My apartment's garage has just the tiiiiiniest bit of room left 👀
Maybe it'll do well on my future sailboat... always wanted a machine shop on a yacht
@dhh I feel bad for how much folks try to dunk on you and the team.
We’ve borrowed a lot of RoR ideas in @dioxuslabs. HTML over websockets is great in a lot of cases.
The web community is just full of hate these days, which is sad, because the web is so fun to build for.
@dhh I’ve had to mute a lot of the JS ecosystem.
So much negativity, so unhealthy. As a framework author, it’s fun to see other solutions - never do I feel the need to dunk on any of it.
People can have their opinions, but we still know that success comes from results, not tweets.
