Frugality is a trap. You don’t get rich by cutting lattes, you get rich by building leverage. Focus on scalable income, not pennies saved. People waste years budgeting instead of creating. Time is your most expensive currency. Spend it multiplying, not minimizing.
Cameroonian billionaire Paul Kammogne Fokam built Afriland First Bank into an approximately $690 million banking empire across Central and Francophone West Africa to prove that the continent could finance itself.

Breaking news: Alan Greenspan, the US Federal Reserve chair who dominated global markets in the late 20th century only to see his legacy tarnished by the financial crash, has died at the age of 100. https://t.co/lO7pwXujrW
Uganda President Museveni talks a lot about how Science is king and the magic that will save Uganda, and Arts and Social Sciences are “useless” and shouldn’t get state funding. Then the kids study Medical Sciences and when they ask for small change to begin putting the science into practice, they are told no money, and those who protest are hammered or jailed. Meanwhile a “useless” arts and social sciences institution like Parliament (we won’t mention State House) get many times more money - in the billions - just to buy second-rate tea, mandanzi, and cakes for MPs. What are we not getting? Did Parliament and State House become vaunted academies of sciences and we missed the memo?
We just watched the Knicks make the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history! The first and second half were two completely different stories - the Spurs dominated in the first half and Knicks stormed back in the second. Jalen Brunson put the team on his back with his 36-point performance, but OG Anunoby was the true hero tonight, finishing with 33 points AND the game-winning tip in!
De’Aaron Fox made a huge mistake when he got the ball with seconds left in the fourth and decided to go for a layup instead of dribbling the ball out to be fouled. I think the Spurs have another win in them and the Series will stretch out to 6 or 7 games, but I still see the Knicks winning it all.
And for the Knicks, I’m wondering who’s going to guard Victor Wembanyama. They won’t have as easy of a time on offense due to the much better defensive ability of the Spurs compared to their previous matchups against the Hawks, 76ers, and Cavaliers.
KNICKS. SPURS. 1999 REMATCH.

Before we say goodbye to former Uganda Parliament Speaker Anita Annet Among (AAA), who was brought down by a scandal over a very expensive Rolls-Royce “gift”, let us close with something about the car’s history.
The “Spirit of Ecstasy” is the iconic sculpted mascot that sits on the bonnet (hood) of every Rolls-Royce motor car. It depicts a woman leaning forward with her arms outstretched behind and above her. It was modelled after Eleanor Velasco Thornton (also known as Thorn), who was caught in a secret, passionate affair with the wealthy British aristocrat John Walter Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu, 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu. Eleanor was Montagu’s secretary.
On 30 December 1915, Eleanor and Lord Montagu were travelling to India aboard the passenger steamship SS Persia when it was torpedoed by a German submarine off the coast of Crete in the Mediterranean.
The ship sank in just five minutes. While Lord Montagu miraculously survived by clinging to a life raft, Eleanor drowned along with hundreds of others.
Pity we only paid attention to this now. We could have warned AAA that a Rolls-Royce is no car for a lady; its mascot is quite literally the tragic epitaph of a woman lost at sea. And, I can't resist this one: “The Thorn” would have been a fitting nickname indeed for Among.
After all, the money we pay them for the roads construction doesn't develop holes and defeats, we expect the roads constructed to have zero potholes and zero cracks.
The man of the hour.
The glassy-eyed stare. The black and white monochrome basics.
The man whose X timeline is now the most-watched news source in Uganda.
The hand of history always brings up such people to the Town Square exactly when the moment requires them.
The Cincinnatus story is genuinely extraordinary. The Washington comparison earns its place.
But the full version of the Washington detail is worth saying clearly.
Washington went home to Mount Vernon. Mount Vernon was a 3,000-acre plantation operated by over 300 enslaved people whose labor made the retirement possible. The man King George III called potentially the greatest in the world returned to a life of leisure built on human bondage, and in his will freed his enslaved people only upon his wife's death — meaning Martha Washington lived surrounded by people who had a direct financial incentive to wish her gone. She freed them within a year of his death, apparently having understood the situation.
Washington refused a kingship. He kept his enslaved workers. Both things are true. The Romans who inspired him practiced slavery at industrial scale and considered it foundational to civilization. Cincinnatus's farm was almost certainly worked partly by slaves.
The post's lesson stands: people who flee power often make better leaders than those who chase it.
The addendum history keeps forcing on the story: the republics built by those leaders frequently defined freedom in ways that excluded most of the people living inside them.
That gap between the ideal and the reality isn't a reason to dismiss the ideal. It's the most important tension in the history of governance and nobody has resolved it yet.
