@SamWhyte I‘ve otherwise put incidents like this as the garden variety reaction that has been present in Britain since time immemorial but this feels different. Maybe that’s no more than an aesthetic difference, but I don’t think so this time
@SamWhyte Honestly a bit of a wake up call this past week. This might not be full blown fascism yet but it’s brewing. Feel very naive for my skepticism over the past few years.
@Andy76967657105 @BeardedGenius Christ, not the Cambridge Analytica canard again. That story was a complete nothing burger. Part of the issue of post-2008 is not just the acceleration of the far right, but the liberal order descending into out and out neurosis.
@FrancesAlbs @AliAbunimah The sheer fear and desperation on display here from you is honestly heartening, as I am sure it is for Mr Abunimah. Keep up the good work!
@OldGilles @SamWhyte Haha very interesting! I am happy to pay, but the question always catches me off guard. Like when you can def get away with not paying for a round because the barman is busy with other customers.
@jessesingal Please, please, please do an Aimee episode. The most wild political journey ever seen on social media. Got several podcast spats and public fallings out that are well documented.
@Lindsay_Dave@ActionBrexit Know not to stamp on people‘s faces when they’re laying down on the ground fella. Feel like that’s a basic moral lesson we learn early. Funny how other coppers manage not to do this.
@plutotlabarbie @JasonReidUK Yes it was that brief, decadent moment after the 2017 election when those Novara idiots really thought they’d made it onto the institutional gravy train. Absolute bunch of charlatans.
@satyr_wayfinder@capybaroness I feel you on this, and i think the solution here is to just do away with story pretty much altogether and bathe in the image, a la Under the Skin or Mandy
@brad_polumbo@jessesingal If I could take a stab at this, I imagine the point of the rhetoric is to not-so-subtly imply that non-white people, and especially non-white muslims and Arabs, are not true US citizens, or at least their citizenship is contingent
