@multiplanet1 Don’t forget that AOC criticized Elon Musk during an Instagram live stream in February 2025, calling him "one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met" and stating that he is "not smart" and "least knowledgeable about these systems.” Says more about AOC than Musk.
@deboosabalera No. Please explain. Do you realize the difference between realized gains that are
taxable under the income tax code and unrealized gains that have an undefined value until sold and have nothing to do with net income?
@deboosabalera Wrong again. Unrealized gains means “unreal”. They are not real gains until somebody purchases the assets. Realized gains means somebody purchased something and fixed the gain. For example, Musk was a trillionaire one day and not a few days later because the gains were not real.
@deboosabalera Wrong. A wealth tax is a confiscation of assets unrelated to net income. Changing the tax code would increase the tax rate on net income for high earners.
@Brian_on_X@RBReich I read the entire transcript too. He did not endorse a net-worth wealth tax, but has consistently argued then and in subsequent years that the ultra-rich were undertaxed relative to ordinary wage earners and that capital gains and high-end income rates should be raised.
@MichaelAArouet I want nothing to do with the EU or UK. Why not become an affiliate of the US to eliminate all the tariffs. Nobody knows what an affiliate of the EU means anyway.
@Brian_on_X@RBReich Warren Buffett has never proposed a wealth tax (a tax on total net worth or asset value). However, he is famous for proposing higher taxes on top earners through income tax reform.
@multiplanet1 This is an example of how capitalism works better than big government and its inherent bureaucracy. Capitalism breeds efficiency while a monopoly breeds inefficiency.
@WesternLensman Democrats want to demonize ICE. In late 2025, DHS and ICE reported that New York's policies resulted in the release of 6,947 criminal noncitizens with active detainers since January 20, 2025. Start by stopping that and maybe ICE won’t need to be so agressive.
@Mr_Husky1 Once when I did not tip they excessively salted my food. I did not make a big deal of it but never went back there. Conversely, we have gotten to know many of the staff at a few of the take-out restaurants. The staff tend to be paid poorly so we tip them 10-20% to support them.
