@bconn73@FoodFreedomNH Wrong! Wait until the very end to minimize the number of merge points to one (minimizes slowdowns to traffic, which is caused by the merging itself), maximize the square footage of usable roadway in use, reducing the physical length (not length in time) of any backup.
Poverty is the default condition of humanity. Capitalism is what reduced it more than any system in history.
Asking why capitalism hasn't eliminated all poverty is like asking why medicine hasn't eliminated all disease.
The real question is: compared to what?
Every society started poor. The wealthiest societies emerged where property rights, trade, and markets were strongest. The poorest societies emerged where they were weakest.
Another massive L for Chicago.
In 2014, George Lucas picked Chicago for a $1 billion privately funded museum for his legendary collection - Star Wars artifacts, Norman Rockwell paintings, etc. Zero taxpayer dollars.
A left-wing nonprofit (“Friends of the Parks”) sued, claiming a parking lot was sacred “public trust land.” After years of delays, Lucas said screw it and took the whole thing to LA.
Opening this September. It looks incredible.
Meanwhile, Chicago rammed through the Obama Presidential Center on 19.3 acres of historic Jackson Park.
• Originally ~$300M → now $850M (nearly 3x over)
• Promised 2021 opening → now opening June 2026 (5 years late)
• Promised $470M endowment so taxpayers wouldn’t get stuck → only ~$1M deposited
One museum Chicago blocked.
One museum Chicago rammed through.
Chicago’s priorities on full display.
@58isthenew40@CWBChicago Yes, we need it to apprehend violent lawbreakers. A huge percentage of the crimes are committed by a small percentage of the population.
Chicago police just arrested a citizen for cleaning up trash in his own community alleys and streets.
His group regularly does the job the city refuses to do.
This man and his organization go out and clean public spaces that local government ignores. Instead of thanking him they slapped cuffs on him.
Why? Because Chicago has fat contracts with private companies that get paid to do nothing.
Or is it simply the same rules more stringently enforced to make the game less physical? I know that the enforcement of traveling and double-dribbling infractions have gone the other direction, relaxed to an absurd degree, but I don’t think that benefits white Europeans in particular.
@anishmoonka@bp22 So, a cyst can be a clogged gland, so was it really wrong to call it a cyst? Any cyst would have a particular fact pattern in its formation, so isn’t the essential problem that no one looked further for ovarian cysts?
@MarioNawfal Next time he should make a bet on Bank at the baccarat table; the EV is similar, and he would not find himself in a spot where optimal play involves splitting or doubling (if he removes those options, the House edge in bj gets much higher)
@abluecanary@CWBChicago I think it’s a combination of the victim over-reporting for insurance purposes and numbskull thieves who don’t know how to properly value anything, most notably property rights and their own liberty!
