Rather than relying on fossil fuel firms self-regulating, Australia needs strong independent monitoring, reporting & verification (MRV) of methane gas facilities & coal mines. Self regulation & desktop studies are a total fail, shows the @IEA.

Can anyone tell me who supports the No campaign other than the Morrison leftovers & obviously #BinBen?
And who supports the Yes campaign?

Peter Dutton has refused to support the Matildas until they can provide more detail on how the rest of the World Cup will unfold https://t.co/qJZj2RDrlk
There’s a single statistic everyone in the world should know this summer: fossil fuel subsidies are ten times greater than climate finance.

🔥🌍📈BREAKING @NASA 📈🌍🔥
The Earth's Energy Imbalance from NASA satellite data reached 1.97 W/m² (12-month mean)!!
I called this the most important graph in the world.
This helps to explain all the records currently being broken around the word!

Breaking News!!!
North Atlantic sea surface temperatures set a modern-day record high yesterday at an average of 24.90°C (76.82°F), passing the previous record of 24.89°C set September 2-4, 2022.
And there is at least another month of North Atlantic ocean warming ahead.
Thread: Each week I run a simulation of Australia’s main electricity grid using rescaled generation data to show that it can get very close to 100% renewable electricity with just 5 hrs of storage (24 GW / 120 GWh)
Results:
last week: 95.3% RE
last XX weeks: 98.9% RE (1/4)
This is the hottest we have ever observed.
The Mediterranean is now completely outside all previous records. We have never measured this level of heat across the basin at any time of year.
It is only July. We usually see the annual maximum in August.

What we are doing is not enough. We have the solutions. Stop the delays and implement them. #ActOnClimate
Not to be alarmist but…this is what’s called a six-sigma event, now unfolding in Antarctica.
Otherwise known as a once-in-7.5-million-year event.
Hang onto your hats.

An extraordinary marine heatwave has developed off the east coast of Canada, with hundreds of thousands of square miles of ocean experiencing sea surface temperatures more than 5°C (9°F) above normal and max anomalies approaching 10°C (18°F) above normal.
Thermal stress from this marine heatwave could have major impacts on marine life in the Northwest Atlantic.
Yesterday there were sea surface temperatures recorded off the coast of Florida that reached over 38°C (100°F), among the hottest sea surface temperatures ever recorded.
1. Global warming will continue until we reach net-zero.
2. The climate consequences will keep getting worse until we reach net-zero.
3. After reaching net-zero we will have to live and suffer in a warmer world for generations.
Do we act now or delay further?
