Several editors have returned their copies of my manuscript and I’ve made revisions.
I’m very excited about this book and would love a publisher to partner with.
A synopsis of the book:
“Many Christians want to pray, but don't know what to say.
We feel the weight of our needs, the distraction of our minds, and the quiet guilt that our prayers are shallow or repetitive. We know Scripture is powerful, yet we rarely know how to turn its words into prayer.
Praying Scripture Every Day offers a simple, time-tested path forward. Drawing from Matthew Henry's classic A Method for Prayer, this thirty-day guide teaches you to pray the Bible itself-adoring God, confessing sin, bringing requests, giving thanks, and interceding for others—using the very language God has given us.
Each day provides a complete, Scripture-shaped prayer that can be prayed in just a few minutes, while gently training your heart to pray more richly over a lifetime.
Whether you are new to prayer or have walked with Christ for years, these pages will expand your prayer horizons and give you confidence that God is pleased when His people pray His Word.”
I’m slowly plodding my way through Meet the Puritans in chronological order.
If I may make a suggestion for the 3rd edition: a set of maps of the regions of the UK, the counties of England, and perhaps “major sites” from the English Puritan period?

dressing well often requires layering, which means you can solve many of your style problems by living in the northern hemisphere for half the year and then flying to the southern hemisphere for the other half, much like a migrating bird
This morning's sermon outline from Luke 12:1-12
1. The Father sees and will not forget you, so fear him.
2. The Son will own you, so acknowledge him.
3. The Holy Spirit will teach you, so don't be anxious.
If we think we earn God’s approval by keeping the law, there are only two options: we actually try and it crushes us, or we invent a version we can measure and fool ourselves.

We are remarkably comfortable with law when we imagine law is something we can manage.
We would rather have a righteousness project than receive a righteousness outside of us.
Like Israel when they were delivered from Egypt, we would rather be slaves with something comfortable than free people who live entirely by grace, taking the Lord at his word.
In the Hobbit, we see Bilbo grow in strength, fortitude, and courage. By the time he reaches the mountain he’s the one who “comes from under the hill, and under the hills and over the hills my paths led. And through the air, I am he that walks unseen. I am the clue-finder, the web-cutter, the stinging fly. I was chosen for the lucky number. www I am he that buries his friends alive and drowns them and draws them alive again from the water. I came from the end of a bag, but no bag went over me. I am the friend of bears and the guest of eagles. I am Ringwinner and Luckwearer; and I am Barrel-rider.’”
In the Lord of the Rings we see the opposite. Frodo only overcomes by being, himself, hollowed out. By the time he reaches the mountain he says, “No taste of food, no feel of water, no sound of wind, no memory of tree or grass or flower, no image of moon or star are left to me. I am naked in the dark, Sam, and there is no veil between me and the wheel of fire. I begin to see it even with my waking eyes, and all else fades.’”
Bilbo is ennobled by overcoming, Frodo by being overcome.
You can quote Calvin, Spurgeon, and Watson, read the Fathers, and have mountains of doctrinal knowledge—and still not be saved. Have you trusted Jesus, or have you just been doing the reading?
This man’s faith on Christ is accepted for righteousness; that is, God reckons him so, and so he shall pass at the great day by the judge’s sentence, as if he had never trod one step awry from the path of the law. - Gurnall
