@BlueCordCSM You’re sending me back. I drove from Kuwait to Tikrit in a hum-vee with soft doors and sandbags in the floor and ratchet strapped across the hood.
🇺🇸THE GWOT BOOTLEG DVD MARKET
If you deployed during the GWOT, you already know.
Somewhere on the FOB was a little bazaar where you could buy every movie ever made for about $2. 😂
And I'm talking about movies that weren't even in theaters yet.
You'd walk in and this dude had:
🎬 300
🎬 Black Hawk Down
🎬 The Hangover
🎬 Transformers
🎬 Every season of The Sopranos
🎬 47 movies supposedly starring Jason Statham.
All on DVDs with covers that looked like they were printed on an HP DeskJet running out of ink.
And quality?
TOTAL GAMBLE.
You might get:
🎬Option A: Perfect movie.
🎞Option B: Somebody recorded it inside a theater and halfway through, a dude stands up and walks directly across your screen.
🎥Option C: Movie starts in English…15 minutes later everybody's speaking Russian.
🎟Option D: The DVD menu says FAST & FURIOUS 4…
You press PLAY…
It's Shrek. 😂
But the absolute best was buying an entire TV series on ONE DVD.
Brother, that disc contained 74 hours of television, three viruses, and probably classified information.
And somehow…
THAT $20 DEPLOYMENT DVD PLAYER PLAYED EVERY DAMN ONE OF THEM.
Meanwhile, your $1,500 laptop back home:
"Unable to read disc."
GWOT veterans didn't have Netflix.
We had FOBFLIX. 😂
👇What was the sketchiest bootleg movie or DVD you bought downrange?

@brollbenny I feel exactly the same.
I got called sapper when I was attached to an armor unit, but I didn’t go to the school so I don’t want to wear the tap.
Make a cool shirt and I’ll buy it. Maybe something with a castle.
Between this and the profoundly stupid Chalamet story, we've reached a crisis point in punishing famous people for saying anything remotely interesting in public.
Here is the first post.
It’s a lot to ask, but if you can retweet it, I appreciate it. If you can quote tweet it, be gentle: maybe just tag the company (Securian, their handle is in the post) & ask them why this is happening.
Thank you! Time is short

Thinking about that time that my mother in law asked me if I knew a guy in the Army named Dan, and I laughed at her because that’s not how it works, and then Dan lived right next door to me on deployment.
Imagine signing up to serve your country and the next thing you know you’re marching down Pennsylvania Ave. in some Bridgerton ass pantaloons for a fascist pedophile’s 79th birthday party.
Now that the Standing Power Throw is dead, the Army will have to figure out what to do with all those ten pound balls.
EOD had the same problem when the Global War on Terror ended.
Do things that work: “Eventually, New York implemented congestion pricing despite the polling, and it keeps getting more popular over time because it works.”
Read this thread by Congressman @Malinowski. It is spot on. I’m increasingly discouraged by journalist that aren’t & media that iant informing citizenry as to the workings of government, but instead only covers - in gross detail - the performative politics of just a few.
