We show that opposing alcohol memories are stored in distinct engram ensembles within the same striatal cell type (dMSNs): one promotes relapse, while another supports extinction. We further identify persistent corticostriatal potentiation as a key substrate of relapse memory.

Excited to share our new paper in Neuropharmacology: "Perinatal and Prenatal Alcohol Exposure Impairs Striatal Cholinergic Function and Cognitive Flexibility in Adult Offspring." It shows PAE impairs striatal cholinergic activity and promotes compulsive alcohol drinking.
