@R_W_Raymond Availability of water was only an issue in one small area — January fires were so bad in SoCal because air attack couldn’t fly for a couple of days due to crazy winds.
Any fraud they find is a crime against the USA. If you are going to accuse any one of a crime, you need to document it and prove it.
If it’s a crime. File charges. Do it now.
If you aren’t filing charges, what are you even doing ? What’s the point ? Fraud is against the law.
That’s just real world.
And if what they claim is fraud , is not , then that is a whole different shit storm
If it’s a program that @doge and @elonmusk don’t believe should exist. Fine. But shouldn’t the people who got the funding get a chance to defend themselves ? Isn’t that the American way ? Shit. Have them on a spaces to discuss it
. Trying to remake a bureaucracy isn’t easy or pretty. But it doesn’t have to be chaotic
All of this feels like there is no plan
The law of unintended consequences can get nasty if there isn’t a plan. And if there is a plan , why not show it ?
If you have nothing to hide. Hide Nothing
@BErickson_BIO@peterbakernyt@CBSNews Finding ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency sounds great, but throwing the entire federal govt into chaos and confusion doesn’t have to be the way to do it — and is likely counterproductive in the long run.
@PauletteAlt@BallouxFrancois Forgiveness is great but usually warranted after someone makes a real apology and does the work to try and set rings right.
If that were a young black guy who said normalize white hate and Christianity is evil etc., would we be having the same convo? 🤔
@PauletteAlt @bluebirdinmy @BallouxFrancois Emotional maturity is a prerequisite for the kind of security clearance to handle something as critical and sensitive and the bleeping U.S. Treasury payment system.
Please listen to Stephanie Nolen. Seriously, actually listen. And think. Reflect that maybe you don’t understand US foreign aid the way you think you do.
Seriously, actually stop and think.
Seriously.
“@K.M Thanks for reading. I know many people share the view that it is inappropriate for the United States to spend money to assist developing countries when there are people struggling to access health care or other assistance at home. The thing that I think this perspective misses, based on my many years of reporting on this subject, is that much of the U.S. spending is not altruistic. It's done to directly serve the interests of the United States. The U.S. funds almost all disease surveillance in Africa, for example – and yes, that protects Africans, but it also protects Americans, who are much safer when Ebola or a new mpox strain are detected while still in Uganda or D.R.C., rather than when they have traveled with a passenger bound for Kansas. The U.S. funds tuberculosis treatment in poor countries because Americans are less safe if extremely drug resistant strains of TB are permitted to evolve and spread. U.S. agencies do many clinical trials in developing countries. Supporting primary health care in very fragile states helps maintain peace. I could list 1,000 examples of how this spending directly contributes to U.S. national security. Is money spent to support these kinds of projects then actually money spent to assist Americans? (It also doesn't hurt to maintain an international image as a country interested in partnership, when seeking places for military bases or a friendly environment for U.S. mining companies, for example.)”
The mass deportation of illegal immigrants is a racist purge of the Latino and Black communities. Notice no raids of the Russian community in Brighton Beach or the Irish community of Boston, where known undocumented immigrants regularly live. No European immigrant communities raided
@elonmusk Sorry to burst your bubble but there aren't enough men, women, or equipment to deploy enough water to stop wind driven fires like this.
Why don't you take some of that "go to mars" money and actually help rather than Monday morning quarterbacking during a live fire?
- Killing people is bad
- 82 year olds who can’t speak probably should not run for reelection.
- Game show hosts who instigated a violent coup shouldn’t be president.
These views have proven surprisingly unpopular in 2024. Trying to listen and learn.
@HogCranker7@JasonKander The for-profit healthcare system is disaster on all levels but murdering CEOs of insurance companies is not going to solve anything and will likely be used to deflect and demonize those with legit critiques.
It is seriously problematic that the owner of this site, and one of the most powerful people on earth, promotes ridiculous conspiracies such as this total nonsense.

Just to be clear: the incoming Trump administration is going to war against their own GOP senate majority and the constitution's advice & consent provision so they can make a man investigated for *sex trafficking a minor* into the most powerful law enforcement officer in the country.
@CJPetrelli @vipintukur The only commercially available test?
Immunology labs all over the world study T cell responses as part of their research. They have specialized equipment and pro scientists, collect + track data more detailed than kind of test you’re referring to.

@Ralph1Waldo@MaryELynn@Lee_CrollPhD Blocked so don’t even know what she said, but I do know blocking is what people do when they don’t want to be shown evidence that contradicts their presuppositions and reveals motivated reasoning. People genuinely interested in honest debate don’t, b/c they’re not afraid of info.
@MaryELynn@Lee_CrollPhD This was cohort of patients treated in hospital in first wave in Australia in early 2020. They had persistent activation of immune system, not reported deficiency to other pathogens. The lead author of the paper has repeatedly asked for it not to be misunderstood out of context.
