Reason: infinite scroll, autoplay, push notifications and recommendation algorithms are designed to hold your attention.

They’re threatening Meta with fines up to 6% of global revenue, over $12 billion, until the apps are redesigned to Brussels’ liking: autoplay & infinite scroll OFF by default, screen time breaks, and algorithms retuned to be less engaging.
