Another scam thrust on us.
1. Firstly, WHERE is the space to plant 50 lakh saplings in Pune? Even the Metro companies are struggling to find space for compensatory plantation.
There are no 'open spaces' left in Pune - all claimed by builders. Hills are already forested or have grasslands which MUST be protected (grasslands are a very valuable ecosystem)
Or, like the State Govt's has ordered for their ridiculous Miyawaki project, are they planning to cut trees on the tekdis and replace them with these saplings?

2. Secondly, a budget of Rs 1.5 cr for 50L saplings means Rs 3 per sapling - I would be very interested to know where they can get decent sized saplings for 3 rupees! Even the social forestry nursery in Theur is selling 2 feet tall saplings at 30 - 100 Rs.

There is a new breed of toxic person on the Internet.
These are the ones who will complain about every act of kindness.

If one feeds a poor person, they say one is making them lazy and spoiling them.
If one helps out at a Gurudwara langar, they ask why is one not helping out at a temple?
If one feeds dogs, they ask why are you not feeding humans?
If one feeds humans, they ask why are you not feeding certain other humans?

And so on.

Their only reason for existence is to whine at kindness. Because they think that every kind person should go to them for advice on who to be kind to.

@thevirdas Also check for any discomfort in the body. Sound sensitivity has links to pain and the loud sounds could trigger sudden movements that cause discomfort.

@thevirdas Gaba if things are bad. But talk to your vet before starting on any medication. Hemp/cbd/bach flower etc may or may not help as it was seen working with some dogs but not others.

This Machine will consume 6000 litres of water per day and promises to reduce dust pollution. 6 crores is being spent on these machines.

Readings taken an hour before the machines were used and an hour after confirm no impact on pollution at all.

It’s another matter that the temperature is 42 degrees and heat isn’t going down any quicker at nights. Some people have AC’s to live with, while ignorant others can only hope this machine will provide for the evotranspiration function that trees provide for free.

They have money to blow on these machines but don’t have money to put into sensors that will give us real time data in each neighbourhood of what we are breathing and how much of it are we breathing. Unless we don’t admit that we have a problem, we are never going to get anywhere around or close to solving it.

Make local air pollution data public so that people know what pollutes their air and why. That’s how one begins to fight air pollution - Not, Spray water with impunity into the air and hope it works. Even if it’s a temporary fix, It’s not going to work. Because, The heat is at 42 degree centigrade. Almost half the boiling point of water. 💧 When will we stop winging it and actually begin working on some real world solutions.
