Absolutely beside myself with excitement to share that my book, HOW TO WINTER: Harnessing Your Mindset to Embrace All Seasons of Life, will be published by @penguinrandom in the US and @booksbybluebird in the UK in 2024!
❄️🤩☃️🎉☂️🌨️
I don't usually jump into Twitter debates, but I'm ready to offer my 2 cents on the growth mindset meta-analyses. I've already seen comments that I agree with pointing out that growth mindsets aren't intended to be considered as an overall main effect; (1/n)
This was my thought as well - a huge confounding variable that the people who get paid for their mindset expertise are also the people with the deep, nuanced understanding to design interventions in complex contexts that are the most likely to "work," e.g., have a positive impact
@RGibsongirl My husband has this too - it's likely an oral allergy syndrome to certain classes of raw fruits/vegetables. Pickles are fine because pickling de-natures the allergen protein. You can do a very quick pickle (lemon juice) on cucumber and see if that helps!
@jacasiegel EXTREMELY open to chatting about it more. It's been so great!!! DM me if you want to discuss (or if I'm not too late for Amsterdam recs =) )
I'm hiring a lab manager for my Behavior, Culture, and Inequality lab at @UMich Psychology! Our focus will be on integrating social psychology, cultural psychology, and behavioral science to understand and mitigate poverty and inequality. Apply by 7/10: https://t.co/OSJniOzxui
Remember this picture every single time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam."
This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s, via @fietsprofessor.
The cities we admire made better choices regarding cars, and are still making them today.
Better choices instead of excuses.
It’s pretty commonly understood that a main reason why people love their college experience is because it’s one of the few times in one’s life they get to live in a walkable community close to all of their friends, fun things to do, & to do so fairly affordably (outside of tuition)
I LOVED working on this study - not only because of our amazing team, but because we found that a short, scalable video intervention improved the experience of people getting the COVID vaccine. And because the "immune system training" scene of our video was inspired by Mulan 🤩.
What if symptoms were a positive signal? Our latest study now out in @BehavioralMed shows that changing #mindsets about common #sideeffects of the covid19 vaccine can ⬆️ vaccine experience and ⬇️ vaccine hesitancy. A 🧵 (1/5)

A reminder that the best way to fight traffic is not with more roads, but with better alternatives to driving. Even taking away major highways often doesn't worsen traffic the way we think it will.
"as the week went on, people adjusted their travel behavior.”
READ: “Apocalyptic gridlock did not ensnare the Philadelphia area. Truck traffic did not come to a halt. In fact, more people rode the train or took alternate routes and life marched on.”
Sound surprising? Actually, it’s not surprising at all.

@tanyachen I finally admitted that I needed a space for this and I have a little bin in my closet where I put these clothes and I LOVE it!! I throw them in there when I'm done with them and when I do laundry I just dump the whole bin into the laundry basket.
THE GOOD ENOUGH JOB by @SimoneStolzoff is out this week! Buy it for a retiring Boomer, an overwhelmed Gen X parent, a Millennial having a mid-life crisis, a Gen Zer feeling lost - it's a book for all ages about how to reclaim meaning and identity outside of work.
Ooo just learned that the book is 10% off on @Bookshop_Org with the code "WORK" 💼

The fees charged to scientists to make our taxpayer-funded research open access. These fees are charged by a company that makes more profit than Amazon, Google, and Apple every year.
A reminder that Elsevier made $10.5 BILLION in 2022 from selling your academic journals and articles behind paywalls, and make more profit than Amazon, Google, and Apple every year…
And paid the academics who wrote the articles $0
And paid the reviewers of the articles $0
