⚡ Reliability First.
Vistra is expanding our Permian Basin Power Plant, tripling the site’s current capacity. Two new natural gas units, totaling 860 MW, will support the region’s energy needs, including the expanding oil and gas industry.
Tony Bennett, president and CEO of the Texas Association of Manufacturers, joined Pat Wood, former chairman of FERC & PUCT, this morning at #SEARUC to discuss:
— economic development
— training a skilled industrial workforce
— the importance of reliable power for manufacturers
Thx to Chairmen @PhilKingTX@DrSchwertner@KingForTexas, staff for the balanced outcome in SB6 to create new tools to plan for & manage large electrical loads It's a measured approach to bringing biz w/large electricity demands to TX & ensures access to reliable affordable power
.@PUCTX today took a major step in ensuring the long-term energy reliability and economic vitality of the Lone Star State by announcing that the buildout of the Permian Basin Reliability Plan will proceed using 765-kilovolt (kV) transmission lines—the highest-voltage transmission standard to be used in Texas.
Following the announcement, TXOGA President @Todd_Staples issued the following statement:
“Today’s decision by the PUC to approve transmission lines in the buildout of the Permian Basin Reliability Plan further reinforces Texas’ ongoing commitment to fostering economic growth, creating jobs and strengthening our energy independence. We thank PUC Chairman Thomas Gleeson, Commissioners Kathleen Jackson and Courtney Hjaltman, as well as staff, for their diligent and thoughtful work to advance this project. Former PUC Commissioner Lori Cobos also worked extensively on this issue. This decision is critical to ensuring that reliable power is available for oil and natural gas production and industrial development across West Texas—enabling the energy sector to continue delivering affordable, secure energy to Texas, the nation, and the world.”

@TXConsumer@ERCOT_ISO@PUCTX This is misleading and lacks context. NONE of these organizations are "opposed" to EHV. They are appropriately asking questions to understand cost and execution risk for the options, as any responsible consumer advocate would for a multi-billion dollar plan. #TxLege#TxEnergy

Federal nuclear power regulators gave the go-ahead Monday for the first research nuclear reactor in more than 40 years, and it's here in Texas. Where? @ACUedu
PUCTX Chairman Gleeson joins Texas Industrial Energy Consumers today. Great turnout to discuss the work PUCTX is doing for #Texas, grid reliability and more. #TxLege#TxEnergy
For folks talking about under-grounding electric distribution, understand that the cost is $1.9m-$6m per mile.
Centerpoint has 50k miles of distribution.
At a low end of $2m/mi, every 10k miles is $20B.
CNP’s current total T&D rate base is like $12B.
Thanks to policymakers, legislators, industry reps and the @BakerInstitute for making today’s Texas Electricity Policy Summit a success! We addressed a breadth of critical issues involving electricity that will affect Texas now and for years to come. #txlege#txenergy
Today LCRA announced plans to double the energy production from the new peaker plant in Central Texas by adding a second unit. The new plant will help LCRA continue to meet the increasing need for reliable power and support the Texas power grid.
