Our hearts grieve with @WCKitchen staff and families of the seven aid workers killed in a strike by Israeli forces on April 1st, and we extend our deepest condolences.
We are outraged by this deadly attack on humanitarian workers trying to provide food to people in dire need.
WCK described this as a "targeted attack" - noting that “the WCK team was traveling in a deconflicted zone in two armored cars branded with the WCK logo" and that Israeli forces were notified about these movements. This shows once again that deconfliction mechanisms are unreliable.
This is not an isolated incident. Israel has repeatedly attacked humanitarian workers and is disregarding the protection of medical and humanitarian missions, further obstructing aid efforts.
This attack has caused WCK to pause its lifesaving activities in Gaza.
WCK is one of the few aid agencies that distributes desperately needed food assistance in Gaza, including in the hospitals where MSF works.
Humanitarian workers and their operations must always be protected. We reiterate our call for an immediate and sustained ceasefire to prevent more death and destruction in Gaza and allow for the safe distribution of essential aid.
Satellite images show the distance between each bombed WCK vehicle and how the Israeli occupation army took their time to eliminate the entire crew with precision and premeditation.
The second car was bombed after it rescued the survivors of the first, while the third was bombed after it rescued the survivors from the second vehicle.
The World Central Kitchen killing is meant to circulate akin to a lynching postcard: as a warning sign to any other would-be aid workers who'd come to Gaza. It's a warning, and an effective one, to help make sure the people of Gaza continue to starve.
It is misleading to describe the @WCKitchen killing as an airstrike (singular). In actual fact 3 vehicles were targeted, with the first & last being over 2.4km apart. The IDF decided to make 3 targeted strikes, not one. Geolocation from @m_osint and @ChrisOsieck#Gaza
In a challenging operation spanning several hours, teams from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) successfully recovered the bodies of the seven World Central Kitchen (WCK) employees this morning. They were targeted by Israeli occupation forces yesterday evening while traveling in vehicles owned by the kitchen in Deir al-Balah, in the central #Gaza Strip. Two of the bodies were initially missing, but were later located and retrieved by the PRCS teams. Subsequently, all seven bodies were transported to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah and then to Abu Yousef al-Najjar Hospital in preparation for their evacuation through the Rafah border crossing.

Because of Israel's obstructions, “people in Gaza risk dying of hunger just miles from trucks filled with food,” says @WFP. This is not a natural consequence of war but a deliberate strategy, despite denials by Israel's lawyers in the ICJ genocide case.

Our medical teams are seeing a surge of violence and harassment against Palestinians in Hebron, the West Bank.
"We are all terrified. People think that the situation in Gaza will happen in the West Bank. Are we next? We just don’t know when..."
“Gaza today has become the moral compass of the world… If you fail to call this a genocide, that’s on you. It is a sin & a darkness you willingly embrace. Some have not even called for a ceasefire— I’m talking about churches.”
Rev. Munther Isaac, preaching in Bethlehem 12/23
it’s fucking insane to me that the western world lost its shit over notre dame and now some of the oldest churches in the world are being destroyed in the birth place of christ and no one gives a fuck.
🚨Israel just bombed the very "humanitarian" crossing it was widely celebrated for opening last Friday
An Israeli drone targeted the Palestinian side of the Kerem Shalom crossing, killing 3 workers & the crossing's director, Bassam Ghabin, who were there in coordination with UN!
Palestine injured are splitting the sun light!

Disturbing information on summary killings of at least 11 unarmed Palestinian men in front of their family members in Al Remal neighbourhood.

Samer Abu Daqqa has passed away after bleeding for six hours. Israeli occupation forces prevented paramedics from reaching him after they targeted him by a reconnaissance missile.
