Building classroom community is such an important aspect of teaching. Students need that feeling of community and this behavior activity would be very beneficial to that. This is fun and engaging and makes students want to behave well in all aspects of the classroom.
This is such a fun way to encourage the whole class to grow in classroom behavior and community! As the students work toward a common goal they are encouraging each other and working together! LOVE THIS #EDEL339
R5: I would ask what is the best advice that you give to a beginning teacher? If I can only ask one question I would want his/her best answer! #edel339twitterchat
R4: I would look for a school with a good sense of community and teacher collaboration, if there is a set curriculum to follow, what kinds of programs they have for teaching, assessment, discipline, etc., and what resources they have for teachers and student! #edel339twitterchat
R3: I think that the most challenging part of being a new teacher is being able to balance everything along with making sure ALL students needs are met. Having a mentor there to help guide you through it and give advice will be very supportive. #edel339twitterchat
A current trend that I am definitely loving is the theory of mistakes. Mistakes are okay and are even welcomed. Making mistakes increases brain activity and should be encouraged in some areas of school. You learn from making mistakes. #edel339#promistakes#GrowthMindset
I feel like differentiating for ALL learners is and area most teachers need improvement in. It is easy to think about learners with specific disabilities who need differentiation and forget about learners who need it too, but it is less noticeable.
I am hearing lots of talk about the upcoming changes to standardized testing. Assessment can often be frowned upon, but it is also very important in that it allows teachers to evaluate students and themselves. With that, I am anxious to find out what changes come. #EDEL339
@MissLail3 This is such a great point. This allows them to be more open to asking questions and understanding that other students will have questions too, so they should not be afraid to ask!
The opportunity educators have to build relationships with students is monumental. It’s never too late, students are never too far gone. Our students are #resilient and capable of so much. Relationships=cognitive growth and development
This is a great read for all first-year or soon-to-be teachers. Shelby Denhof is a middle grade teacher, but some of what she discusses could pertain to all new teachers! She discusses what went well, what went wrong, and what could have made her first year even better!
