HB 1020 is being called Jim Crow 2.0. Social Workers must engage in social Justice/antiracist policies and practice. HB 1020 is a step down from equality. We cannot continue to silence black voices. Social Workers, take a stand!

@caseylawson1921 It’s interesting to me that in 2023 it’s still not widely acceptable to discuss your sexual orientation if it’s connected to the LGBTQ community. There’s no reason that laws protecting this community isn’t globally accepted
@BrittSpoon I agree, it’s important for adolescents to feel safe and supported in themselves. A big part of that starts at home. If you’re loved/supported at home it makes it easier to navigate a cruel world.
@tyl77319 I support HB 276 as well. NASW believes in equal healthcare… we know in America minority women have higher birth mortality rates. In America immigrant mothers are also experiencing health disparities. This bill will heal with that. Thanks for sharing
KY SB150 revokes trans rights. No gender affirming care. The Governor's veto has been overridden. It is a social worker's responsibility to challenge social injustice (NASW). https://t.co/50a6FHYdJT

@MarissaR464 70 is insane to me, I’m not even having a good time working in my 20s… 70 is pushing it. You should be enjoying the life you made, not still trying to work to live.
@MartinPigram This was one of the first policies I was introduced to. It is so important for Social workers and officials to protect minorities against discrimination. This is important to me personally because I went to a high school that was very strict about dress code
@MswDarren It’s interesting to me that 64% of people believe it’s a major problem but nobody is doing anything about the issue. Racism/Discrimination has been an issue since the beginning of time. We must act on behalf of those being oppressed
@BrittSpoon I’m glad to know American will be having a greater population of older americans; as social workers it is our duty to ensure the safety and well-being of our elderly Americans while we are lucky enough to still have them here
@MswDarren Thank you for providing this infographic. I remember a teacher telling my class in 6th grade that there would be no Social Security for us once we grew up. It’s good to know that there are steps you can take to ensure financial stability as an older American
About 1 in 10 elders (60+) in America will experience abuse. Elder abuse can be neglect, physical/emotional/sexual abuse, financial exploitation, and deprivation. You can find information on elder abuse at https://t.co/U4Knixi6SW

@darby_potter4 Thank you for sharing this infographic on Mental Illness. I’ve heard a lot of these myths in my personal life, the more we talk about it, the stigma becomes less and more people can access support! Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of!
@Kenziebethboil5 Thank you for this resource. I’ve used NAMI as a resource in many different occasions. The website is pretty easy to navigate as well!

@HalieHemmerle 🙋🏽♀️! I try not to go to the doctor bc of how expensive it is. I know I’m not the only one that does that. This graphic makes me so sad. People having to decide which basic needs they can meet at a time. We have to do better!
@Motts5525 Thank you for sharing about the United States healthcare crisis. I think it’s important to point out the disparities in people who have coverage and those who don’t because it’s often linked to race, and economic status. There are so many issues w/ the system
HB180: Health benefit plans must provide biomarker coverage. NASW Section 6.04 states social worker’s responsibility to engage in political action that “ensures equal access” to services to meet basic human needs. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
