Listen to FOP president John Catanzara point out the failure of Cook County's justice system which allowed a woman with an outstanding felony warrant remain free for more than 18 months.

Shavon Gayden is now accused of stabbing a 7-year-old girl.

This was preventable if not for restrictions on proactive policing. Street stops and traffic stops net illegal guns and criminals sought by police.

Catanzara's remarks echo @saeileenburke, who has consistently sounded the alarm about the failure of Electronic Monitoring.

1,136 TO ZERO.

That's the scoreboard in Chicago. From July 2024 through June 2026, the Chicago Police Department got roughly 1,136 ICE detainers, warrants, and release notices. They handed over exactly zero people.

It gets worse. A House Judiciary report says Chicago's police intelligence center emailed ICE in October 2024 and told them to "cease any further immigration-related requests moving forward." They told federal law enforcement to stop calling.

Look at what that bought Chicago. In January 2025, CPD ignored an ICE detainer and released an illegal alien from Ecuador who'd been arrested for assault and luring a child. Two weeks later, he was charged in a robbery and murder inside a Chicago home.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office released 408 criminal illegal aliens with active ICE detainers in 2025, and not one was transferred on a detainer. The Illinois Department of Corrections let nearly 100 more walk. One of them was a Mexican national sentenced to 30 years for attempted murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault, and aggravated kidnapping.

This is JB Pritzker's Illinois. How many more victims before Democrats admit their sanctuary laws are getting Americans killed?

Gov. Pritzker still won't commit to the federal school choice tax credit program, even as some Dem governors (Polis, Hochul) join the pro-school choice wave.

Pritzker's failure to commit follows his 2023 decision to let Illinois' only school choice program die (sunset). No other state has killed off school choice entirely like Illinois has.

The sad fact is in districts like Chicago, only 13% of black 4th graders were reading at grade level on national tests (NAEP) in 2024. In math, it was only 11%.

Illinois' children, whether in Decatur or Waukegan or Marion, are too often trapped in a failing system. They need options and the $1,700 federal tax credit offers children just that – at no cost to local or state school budgets.

Illinois needs some educational freedom now, but Pritzker refuses to go against the teachers unions.

7-year-old Eddimar Paola Hernández Chacón was stabbed to death Saturday on a Chatham sidewalk while walking with her older sister during the day.

Police say the woman who attacked her did not know the child.

Local court reporting identifies the woman in custody as 48-year-old Shavon D. Gayden, who pleaded guilty in 2024 to aggravated battery of a CTA driver, received probation, picked up later battery charges, and had an active felony warrant after missing court.

As we’ve covered repeatedly, Illinois’ SAFE-T Act limited when people can be held before trial and shifted more decisions to risk assessments and probation. This often backfires.

She was already under supervision with an outstanding warrant when this happened. Charges are still pending and CPD has not publicly confirmed the name, but the record is in the court files.

How many more dead bodies like this young girl does @GovPritzker need before the SafeT Act detention and supervision rules get another look?
