This evening at 5PM (Eastern Time), the Institute of African Studies at Columbia University in New York will be hosting us in a fireside chat with students, faculty and friends of freedom and democracy. Our conversation will focus on the status of the struggle for democracy in Uganda and other countries where it is at risk. Please join us!
We'll also stream the event live on TikTok via @he_bobiwine at 12AM Ugandan time (5PM ET).
Inside the Butambala residence of our jailed Deputy President Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi as of the night of January 15th during the military-led raid that left several unarmed civilians killed by trigger happy men in uniform.

UPDATE: Regime security operatives have raided the home of my assistant, Comrade Najja Sherif. When they found he was not around, they abducted his wife instead after she told them she did not know his whereabouts. What a cowardly regime!
40 days ago, Museveni yet again usurped the will of the people of Uganda and declared himself winner of a sham election on gunpoint. The military continues to surround and occupy my home. Museveni’s criminal son continues to issue threats against me and other Ugandans opposed to his father's illegitimate rule. Yesterday, they did the unthinkable and blocked prayers at Lubaga Cathedral. Amidst all this, I am sending this message to all of us to continue being resilient and exercise the highest level of faith that our country will be free. I thank every Ugandan who has protected me from the evil criminals over the past 40 days.

Today we visited political prisoners at Kitalya Prison. Our Deputy President (Buganda) Hon Muwanga Kivumbi continues to demand justice for the 10 people who were killed at his home, only for the state to instead trump up charges of terrorism against him.
We also checked on other detainees, some of whom have been on remand for 6 years. Their files have not been transferred from the Court Martial in accordance with the supreme Court ruling of 31st Jan 2025.

Uganda’s longstanding pattern of abuse against opposition has risen to alarming levels.
Since presidential elections took place on January 15, Ugandan authorities have intensified attacks on the country’s main opposition party. https://t.co/qZ0CWD5zbM
The attack on the household of @HEBobiwine is confirmed, and deplorable. It is a further example of the complete absence of decency, let alone rule of law, in Uganda.
This all makes it clear that the army and police don't actually know where @HEBobiwine is. If they knew, they wouldn't be swarming and swirling around his home at night. Go to court apply for a search warrant and come during the day to search the home in the presence of the LC. Simple!
UGANDA | ELECTIONS: On the evening of Jan 17, 2026, Bbuye Kato Stanley, a resident of Kalambi, Wakiso District, was shot and killed inside his home, according to his family and eyewitnesses.
Stanley’s father, Yunusu Mukasa, said the family was at home when a police patrol arrived in the area. He reports that security officers jumped off the vehicle and opened fire indiscriminately.
Multiple eyewitnesses, including those appearing in circulating videos, say officers found Stanley at his home and shot him in the head.
Photos and videos reviewed show bullet holes in the wall and the steel door of the house, consistent with witness accounts of shots fired inside the home.
Family members and witnesses state that Stanley was not participating in any protest at the time and was at home when he was killed.
When contacted, SP Kawala Rachel, Kampala Metropolitan @PoliceUg spokesperson, said she was not aware of the incident, adding that she would follow up and provide feedback to the media. She advised the family to remain calm.
She also reiterated police calls for the public—particularly youth—to remain peaceful, following Uganda’s general elections held on Jan 15, 2026.
On Jan 19, 2026, the Uganda Chief of Defence Forces @mkainerugaba publicly stated that the military had killed 22 “NUP terrorists,” referring to supporters of @HEBobiwine’s National Unity Platform, and ordered forces to “kill on sight” NUP “foot soldiers.”
The killing of a civilian in his home, if confirmed, would constitute a grave violation of the right to life. Public statements endorsing lethal force against political supporters raise serious concerns of unlawful killings.
Authorities should ensure a prompt, independent, and transparent investigation, make findings public, and hold those responsible accountable. Victims’ families are entitled to truth, justice, and reparations.

Ugandan soldiers beat up young men and force them to remove the Ugandan flag from a pole. The flag has become a symbol of support for Bobi Wine, and of resistance to President Museveni.
His erratic son Muhoozi Kainerugaba is the country’s military chief
Even at the polling station where Museveni voted from, the number of people who 'apparently voted' from there exceeds the number of registered voters! Here is an Electoral Commission official stating that Museveni obtained 589 votes here and that 5 votes were invalid. When in fact, the total number of registered voters at that polling station is 577. This points to one thing - massive ballot stuffing. Not even half of the 577 voters could have turned up to vote, but the criminals added an excess of 17 votes. This is what happened in every district of Uganda. The apex of impunity! WE MUST RECLAIM OUR COUNTRY!

Regime security operatives deployed at the residence of President Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert have deliberately cut off electricity supply to the home and destroyed the electric fence along the perimeter. President Bobi Wine’s private security guards have been violently assaulted despite having committed no offense. With the residence now under complete darkness, these operatives are attempting to forcibly break into the house, raising grave concerns about their intentions.
IGNORE the fake results being announced by Byabakama. He can't tell anybody where those results are coming from. Our agents at the tally centre are asking him for the source of these results, and the regime enabler can't say a thing. The PEOPLE OF UGANDA will have the final say on this nonsense.
