Climate vulnerability worldwide is a growing challenge, but Africa bears the heaviest burden. The Sahel region, one of the most exposed areas to desertification, feels this the most, from food insecurity to devastating climate shocks.
The Great Green Wall initiative champions the restoration of 100 million hectares of degraded land, the creation of 10 million jobs, and the sequestration of 250 million tons of carbon across Sahel countries from Senegal to Djibouti. This is how Africa should build resilience against climate change.
To support this, at COP30 in Belém, partners reaffirmed their commitment and launched a $222 million programme to scale up resilience across the Sahel.
Even though mechanisms are in place to respond to climate shocks, some consequences remain irreparable. That is why we must act before crises appear. Climate resilience in Africa is not the responsibility of a single institution or government. It is a shared commitment. Let everyone strive to play their part.

What if half of today’s onion and chili post-harvest losses could be eliminated?
NAEB is turning that vision into action through Smart Food Value Chain Management Project by constructing One National and Four Local Post-Harvest Centers dedicated to onions and chili.
Strategically located in @CityofKigali , @RubavuDistrict , @rulindodistrict , @BugeseraDistr , and @NyagatareDistr ; these facilities will be curing 120 tons of onions and drying 79 tons of chili within 48 hours.
Expected loss reduction:
🧅 Onions: 15.4% ➝ 7.7%
🌶 Chili: 17.2% ➝ 8.7%
This milestone underscores NAEB’s commitment to strengthening Rwanda’s agri-export sector through enhanced efficiency, quality, greater global competitiveness and boosted farmers’ income.

OFFICIAL: Rwanda wants to launch a brand-new WorldTour level cycling race starting in 2027 😍
And I’m absolutely here for it. The WorldTour calendar expanding beyond Europe is such a win, early February could really use another stage race, and Rwanda has already proven how brilliantly they can organize cycling events. 🇷🇼
