@MinneishaP I asked about the origin of the creoles and I was told they population was high in the southern states (al.&la) is because they were territory of the French for quite sometime . #AFRusa20
This was described as the room they handled business in . They prepared paper work for the sale of slaves in this room . They emphasized that was not a plantation but they definitely did as others and built their wealth off the backs of African Americans #AFRusa20
They stated that the Oakleigh wasn’t a plantation because it only had 16 slaves whereas a plantation had 19 slaves . I wonder where this distinction derived from ? #AFRUSA20
@JanuaryAmya It was also so mentioned that the decorum and architecture was also used to symbolize wealth. They described it as a “show house” . It was originally intended to be a summer home that they would host in the months they spent in mobile. #AFRusa20
@MinneishaP@oakleighmansion I find it interesting that they thought enough to consider or even follow a tradition of a slave but still couldn’t make the connections to see them as real people . Adopting bits and pieces of their culture while not allowing them to be their true selves is cruel . #AFRusa20
These artifacts were kept in the barracks. Which was explained they were preserved as slave quarters all the way until 2013 which is when they found out it was designated to soldiers who brought their wives. It makes you question what other things were misconstrued. #AFRusa20
It was the fact that New Orleans creole descendants( as well as Mardi Gras) was more popularized there than in Mobile. So interesting with the connection of those two cities. #AFRusa20
This was a form slaves needed to be allowed off the plantation . If they were caught without them they could be charged by the courts up to 20 lashes and the slave owners could have to pay a fee of a $100. The Creoles also had to have a form stating they were free. #AFRusa20
@HaileyWithersp2 Yeah that goes back to the paradigm “politics command economics. They’re political stance caused for a hindrance regarding their finances . It was unjust. #AFRusa20
@MinneishaP I was disgusted by the creation of that council. They had idiotic mindsets . I feel that propaganda of “fear” cripples our nation right now. It’s merely a strategy to keep division within the nation . #AFRusa2020
@Sabrina95524006 @MaryAnn32975523 I totally agree I mean we have came a ways but it still in a sense feels history keeps repeating itself . This footage shows alot of what some peoples principles are based upon. I feel voter suppression is heavily implemented in today’s time . #AFRusa20
I never knew the black panther party was birthed from Stokely Carmichael and others scouting at the march to Montgomery . He was against the march but in his words he wanted “is make a positive out of a negative “. #AFRusa20
@kemjacks In response to question 4, they had to federalalized the national guard because governor Wallace refused to provide proper protection for the protesters. The activist wanted some type of safety ensured for them which I feel is something that was definitely not too much to ask .

It amazes me how even after President Johnson’a recommendations he still refused to protect the protesters . He was upholding racism and bigotry almost with his bare hands . It was truly unjust and wish the president at the time would’ve put more demands on him #AFRusA20
