The Irish were among the first slaves in the Americas—sold, beaten, and worked to death under brutal conditions.
Their story is often overshadowed, but it’s a chilling chapter of history that shaped nations.
Here’s the forgotten truth about Ireland’s tragic story of slavery:
I KNEW IT! I've just recently started having problems driving at night on our interstate. I struggle so much that we take the longer route backroads home.
I thought i was just getting old. 😅

You get what you pay for.
We have terrible politicians because we pay the PM £140K per year. No one serious would take this job unless they planned to monetise the role with speaking engagements and a book deal. For comparison, a PwC Partner is on about £750K and they manage a team of 50-100 people and a P&L of about £10M.
Now the Army wants to hire a CTO for £67K. This is what you'd pay a mid level developer. In a big company, the guy who sets up your email and makes sure you downloaded the latest version of Teams is on £67K.
Median income at Facebook for technical roles is £180K and the most senior tech team are on over £2.4M+. The guys and gals crafting a strategy to get you to see your Aunties birthday pics are making more per month than a CTO in the British army earns in a year.
Are we meant to believe that in a modern war that would include cyber security attacks, drone strikes and billions of sophisticated weaponry all running on IT systems, a guy on £67K a year is on top of it.
A big trend in business over the last 20 years has been dubbed a "war for talent". Business figured out decades ago that a smaller team of highly talented people are worth more than a big team of moderately skilled people. One Beethoven can write 9 symphonies, but 100 mid level musicians can't write one symphony.
Surely when fighting an actual war, we should be at least trying to win the war on talent.

Now that Palantir is a Fortune 500 company, investors need to wake up! Large enterprises and governments need customizable, deeply integrated software solutions. Especially in the age of AI. At YC, I’m happy to fund startups who want to compete with Palantir. If Seed investors want to make money - they will do the same.

Has nobody made a film of this? It is a truly amazing event. For younger readers, Allen Funt was the creator of Candid Camera - the 1960s precursor of shows such as You've Been framed
