My eight year old has started talking back and then saying (outloud) “hashtag roasted” and dabbing. Not one of the parenting books prepared me for this.
Me: She asked me to do something
Doctor: Then what happened?
Me: To be funny, I said “Do I have to do EVERYTHING around here?”
Doctor: How soon afterwards did she start stabbing you?
Me: Almost immediately
Me: *remembers every word from every song I heard in 1984*
Also me: *looks at my boarding pass for the 2,438th time in the last 15 minutes to see what seat I'm in*
That moment when you’re about to shoot off on a rollercoaster and you keep pressing your harness down and imagine it malfunctioning and think to yourself that this might be the end for you? That’s what it feels like to become a parent.
