When it comes to the carbon footprint of our diet, we focus on things like transport and packaging (the brown bit).
But most of the emissions come from land use and activities on the farm (green bit).
This is why *what* you eat matters much more.

Dental offices, please specify which of these safety measures you follow. Ideally, these would be standard regulations, in the same way that the dental tools must be sterilized.
I hear people say "I had Covid & I feel fine." No post-infection testing, just recovery from acute infection.
Other situations where you "feel fine:"
Hypertension ("silent killer")
Most early cancers
HIV
Hepatitis
Syphilis
Diabetes
Hypercoagulability
Coronary Artery Disease
Few realize how explosive the growth of EVs has been in China in the last 24 months. EVs now account for 26% of all car sales, up from just 3.5% in Q1 2020.
Below is a short 🧵 on this highly consequential revolution. (1/8)

I honestly think in 30 years society will look at alcohol like we look at tobacco today. You can already see it starting—Gen Z consumes 20% less alcohol than Millennials did at the same age.
Polling certainly has its flaws, but can you suggest a better ground truth to assess opinions? What is distorting reality so much? News media? Do politicians understand this bias?
🗞️Hot off the press @NatureComms📢:
Americans think a minority in the US are worried about climate change & support climate policy—it's really a super majority.
This “False Social Reality” is near-universal in the US & fully inverts the true norm: https://t.co/kNJCfLooKx 1/3
When we were working on our dynamical systems theory review, @kslays, Karthik and I sat up one night diving into the literature to find the oldest dynamical systems / ODE approaches to the brain. We found some fascinating and under-cited papers!

@MebFaber The appropriate comparison is probability of vaccine injury or death vs COVID injury or death. If the vaccine prevents transmission of the virus (which the original vaccine did 95% against the original strain, but maybe <10% against omicron after 3 mo.), then that's crucial. 2/2
@MebFaber Lots of people win mega millions and are struck by lightning too. The important question is not whether, but how much. And most important is "as compared to what?". 1/2
The CDC:
"After zoonotic transmission, monkeypox spread from person to person is principally respiratory; contact with infectious skin lesions or scabs is another, albeit less common, means of person-to-person spread."

I don't know anyone in the investment industry that argues for the carried interest loophole.
Maybe I run in different circles but LOL WTF how does this thing keep surviving?
#monkeypox can be transmitted by nasal inhalation of spores & more importantly the fact that vaccines aren't magic bullets - need prevention of infection ( distancing , masking , sanitizing, avoidance of contact)&antivirals to break the chain. doi:10.1017/ice.2022.152
This demonstrates what signal averaging obscures in fMRI. The mechanisms behind a process or flow are concealer unless you look at the individual flows, which are dependent upon states that change within the relevant time scale (in fMRI, seconds, not minutes).

A friendly reminder that economic growth and emissions are not intrinsically linked. The work of decarbonization is to decouple the two -- to enable economic growth without harmful climate impact
How do children’s drawings change across development? My new @cogsci_soc#CogSci2022 paper w/ @judyefan@brialong@justintheyang@krgeorge introduces a new dataset with every part labeled from >2K drawings of 16 visual concepts produced by 4-8 y.o. children!
