@ZWoodhead I would not write my hypothesis, if exploratory. However, it's that we have a hypothesis(a weak implicit assumption at least) I think 'speculative' looks OK. But wondering 'hypothesis ' itself is speculative??

Conclusion: @RegReports are cited comparably or higher than regular articles. The commonly expressed fear from authors & (more commonly) journal editors that RRs will be poorly cited is unfounded.
Caveats: Citations ≠ Quality. Journal impact factor is a bad statistic.
