NYC Ballot Proposal #5: VOTE NO
I need help with this one...
Now, the city is allowed to set money aside for economic downturns. If this ballot passes, they city will have to put 12% of the tax revenue into the fund. And, they will not need approval from the City Comptroller anymore…just a requirement to “consult.” Only the mayor and city council will have to approve. This will pass BEFORE they tell us how, which they won’t have to do until 2020. Also, the mayor would get permission to withdraw beyond the 50% limit if he has a “compelling” reason.
Again power is centralized with the mayor and city council who with just his judgement can take the whole fund. (And spend it on anti capitalist, anti American goals?)

We've added open-source converters to Tesseract, our creative suite for agents, to make it possible.
It works both ways. Bring your existing Adobe projects into Tesseract and let your agent pick up where you left off, or vice versa.
This is our first open-source release, and compatibility isn’t perfect yet. Create projects, tell us what breaks, or contribute a fix. Help us make Tesseract better for everyone.

There are 2 million black millionaires in the US.
There are 122,000 millionaires in *all* of Africa combined.
There are 16x more black millionaires in the US than all of Africa combined.
That is underselling the point, roughly 60% of Africa’s millionaires are Arab or white.
Something like this that:
-works on device
-can be selectively utilized at different phases
-can learn from a model sheet
Is probably going to be the most ethical and effective use of ai in animation
Will get massive performance gains for indy artists to compete with studios
Another test of bringing a rough pencil test by the amazing Disney animator #MiltKahl up to today's standards using AI, in this case, #Seedance 2.5 on @dreamina_ai
What do you think? Do you think Milt would have embraced this technology?
This is obviously amazing. If you don’t love this you’re just mad. This is where ai shines when a talented artist does half the work and ai does all the stuff that required sweatshops in Korea.

New York is paying the salaries of the reporters who are supposed to be watching New York's government.
It's called the Local Journalism Sustainability Act (S.625 / A.2958), sponsored by Manhattan Democrat @bradhoylman and Saratoga Democrat @AMCarrieWoerner.
@GovKathyHochul put it in the 2024 state budget. It hands out up to $30 million a year to cover as much as HALF of newsroom salaries.
It's run by an agency that answers to the governor. And it expires in 2027, so the same politicians these papers are supposed to investigate get to decide whether the checks keep coming.
Think that won't affect coverage?
Nobody bites the hand that signs their paycheck.
And it doesn't stop there.
State law forces businesses to buy ads in "official" newspapers picked by politicians. NYC orders agencies to steer ad money to favored outlets.
Piece by piece, New York's press has become financially dependent on the people it's meant to hold accountable.
A watchdog on a leash isn't a watchdog at all. It’s a pet.
Give the tax credits to readers, not publishers, and make every dollar given to these papers public.
New Yorkers deserve a free press, not one funded by Albany.
