We talked to nearly 100 people about youth sports in New Jersey and found a predatory industry that is leaving parents broke, exhausted and wondering how the games of their childhood took over their adult lives. Our six-month investigation: https://t.co/plE3w618qt
Yall making this way too hard.
Yes, travel sports can be a wasteland, & there are a million decisions along the way.
But just be a good parent who enjoys your kids outside of sports, teach them their identity isn’t tied to sports, & ground them in humility.
They’ll be fine.
@bkrudy@SowellsTaker You mean like this?
Id recommend reading the article instead of just the headline. Grade retention is a lot different than intentionally holding your kid back early.
@bkrudy@SowellsTaker First of all, not everyone is doing it. So there is still an advantage.
Second of all, who really cares about one year? All this pearl clutching so you can get a job one year sooner?
@drantbradley - my son plays what you would consider to be “travel baseball”
She’s on a team… with his friends… from his school
He practices… 1-2/week… in our neighborhood
He plays… 0-2 games per week… 5-30 min away
He takes breaks throughout the year.
@drantbradley Uh oh. There you go again…
Reading comprehension my friend.
I’ve been vocal against being against specialization. (See earlier tweets tonight about diversification)
Keep trying.
