Rep. Adam Smith (D-Washington), top ranking Democrat on the committee, says that of course he does not like Netanyahu (like all good Democrats say now) but that "we benefit from that technology partnership..Israel's been actually having to fight."
This is known as the "Palestine Laboratory." Israeli weapons are tested in real time on the bodies of Palestinians, which the Israeli weapons industry uses in its marketing. Smith is arguing that we should benefit from that human experimentation too.
@_AndresDElia@tracian86@MoVagabond And meanwhile Israel has done nothing but abuse, slaughter, and expel Palestinians from their own land. But you don't believe this - not because you don't think that Israel did these things (you probably cheer it on) - you just don't believe the land belongs to Palestinians.
@_AndresDElia@tracian86@MoVagabond Because Palestine doesn't control its own lands - Israel does. You mention the expulsion of people with historical ties to the land, without any irony, when Palestinians are descendants of the original inhabitants of the region - Canaanites (which include Israelites).
@_AndresDElia@tracian86@MoVagabond Why are you implying that a language has some sort of immorality attached to it due to the history of its speakers? Or seemingly implying that Arabic has not evolved?
@_AndresDElia@tracian86@MoVagabond And yes, the Zionist project (i.e. the push for a Jewish ethnostate in the existence of Israel) is a colonial one. You can literally look at the words of the movement's thought-leaders and Israel's early founders wherein they explicitly describe it as such.
@_AndresDElia@tracian86@MoVagabond The name 'Palestine' (or origin thereof) dates to around the same time as the Israelite kingdoms' foundings, and thus has just as much historical bearing on the region (especially considering that other nations like Egypt, Assyria, etc., used it to refer the region).
@_AndresDElia@tracian86@MoVagabond They do have a name to the land they inhabit, it's Palestine. And they do have their own language and culture - while they may speak Arabic, it is a distinct dialect and is informed by the historical linguistic influences of the region (including Ancient Hebrew, Aramaic, etc.).
Hamawy has won — meaning a doctor who treated the victims of the U.S.-Israeli genocide in Gaza is headed to Congress.
He refused to leave his rotation, even as Israel surrounded the hospital and cut off the water supply, until a new rotation of doctors was allowed in
‘BACKROOMS’ director Kane Parsons says he would get “no enjoyment” out of using generative AI on any project — “It defeats the purpose entirely for me.”
“I think I'm in the same boat as most well-adjusted people. If I could snap my fingers and make generative Al disappear forever, I probably would.”

Israel is explicitly warning Christian residents in southern Lebanon not to welcome Muslim residents among them, threatening to bomb Christian neighborhoods.
Israel is now searching for Muslims hiding in the attics of Christians. It’s not 1944. Read that again.
The goal isn't military. It's destabilizing social stability in Lebanon.
@AlexDOnforio@_icantdolife@Nightchordcore These societies were based around their determination of what Islam permitted - and many of them legally permitted these things, under their interpretation of Islamic law. Regardless of what any story in any religious text says, religions are more complex than their holy books.
@DiegoThrowaway@pr0fiteer@AdamasNemesis@PrsdntRaygun@WASPmexicano Yes, because it's a creole based on English, with influences from primarily from various African languages (Twi especially), Hindi, Portuguese, French, etc.
But it is still distinct, much like Spanish is distinct from Portuguese.
In the US, spending on data center construction now exceeds spending on public transportation infrastructure — including airports, marine terminals, and all mass transit.
@AlexDOnforio@_icantdolife@Nightchordcore The early-mid Islamic world was surprisingly tolerant of gay and queer people, and even a handful of rulers were queer (Persian Shahs, Turkish Sultans, an Abbasid Caliph, and others). Anti-gay attitudes have been a relatively recent development.
