This is one of the rare times I'm going to totally disagree with you, somewhat disappointed even. This entire take is a masterclass in psychological projection and a massive, desperate rewrite of football history. You're talking about a "missionary smugness" and a "manufactured narrative" to cope with the fact that the debate didn't end in a media lab it ended on the pitch.

It's a projection for me. To claim Ronaldo fans are just "content with their preference" while Messi fans are "zealots" is hilarious. The entire Ronaldo movement is built on an aggressive, highly online cult of personality that filters the entire sport through raw individual statistics. For a decade, the narrative from that camp was simple and uncompromising: “Goals are the only objective metric. Numbers don't lie”.

But the moment Messi matched the goal scoring volume while maintaining vastly superior playmaking, dribbling, and trophy metrics, the goalposts didn't just move they were completely uprooted. Suddenly, analyzing the actual phase of play, chance creation, and spatial awareness became labeled as "intellectual arrogance" and "smugness." It's not a superiority complex to point out that one player dictates the entire tactical structure of a match while the other relies on it, it's just basic tactical literacy.

The argument that the 2022 World Cup was hollow or hand delivered because people felt Messi deserved it is the ultimate coping mechanism. Nobody handed Messi 7 goals, 3 assists, and a masterclass performance in the greatest final ever played. He earned it by dragging his team through a grueling tournament under intense pressure.

When the footballing hierarchy meaning actual legendary players, managers, and peers who understand the game, said Messi deserved a World Cup, they weren't talking about a political handout. They were acknowledging the sporting injustice that the most complete footballer to ever live might walk away without the ultimate prize.

Trying to link a brief, emotional international retirement in 2016 to a global conspiracy that fixed a World Cup six years later in Qatar is pure really an unintelligent move. The alarm bells didn't sound to "manufacture a legacy" the legacy was already cemented by four Champions Leagues, multiple Ballon d'Ors, and record breaking statistical seasons at Barcelona.

You claim that what held him back was his own failure on the pitch, completely ignoring that he carried a chaotic, dysfunctional Argentina federation to three consecutive major finals before finally getting a stable managerial setup under Scaloni.

People aren't "waking up" to anything, you’re just trying to intellectualize your own footballing heartbreak. The "asymmetry" you’re feeling isn’t a media conspiracy or a religious dogma. It’s just the harsh reality that when the ultimate footballing arguments were settled on the biggest stage on earth, your narrative ran out of road. You can call the consensus smug all you want, but reality isn't a narrative—IT'S JUST WHAT HAPPENED.

BREAKING: Scott Pelley Just Made A Pretty Stunning Allegation.

According to Pelley, CBS leadership wanted a story about the killing of ICE protester Renée Good changed to better match Trump's version of events.

Pelley says he was told management wanted protesters portrayed as more violent and wanted Good described as driving toward the officer who shot her. He says the video evidence showed otherwise.

Then came the admission.

"There was a thumb on the scale for the president's version of events."

A veteran journalist with 37 years at CBS is alleging political pressure was applied to change the facts of a story.

Her name is Elizabeth Fago. Her son, Paul Walczak, had pleaded guilty to federal tax crimes. The pardon application filed on his behalf explicitly cited his mother's million-dollar donation to MAGA Inc. as a reason he deserved clemency. Trump signed the pardon. Walczak walked free and was relieved of more than $4 million in restitution he owed.
That is one entry on a donor list of 58 people who gave a million dollars or more.
MAGA Inc., Trump's super PAC, has now raised over $305 million since the 2024 election five times more than any presidential super PAC in history at this stage. The Brennan Center called it "completely unprecedented." Ninety-six percent of it came from donors giving $1 million or more. Sixty-two percent from those giving $5 million or more. This is not a grassroots operation. It is a pay-window.

The Winklevoss twins gave $1 million — also while their crypto platform Gemini was under SEC investigation. That investigation was dropped in February 2025.
Energy Transfer, the Texas pipeline company, and its CEO Kelcy Warren gave a combined $25 million — while Energy Transfer was actively suing a federal regulatory agency in court.
OpenAI President Greg Brockman and his wife gave $25 million — as the Trump administration was actively shaping AI policy in Silicon Valley's favor.
Then there are the appointments. Benjamin Landa gave $5 million then became Trump's ambassador to Hungary. Kelly Loeffler and her husband gave $5 million she now runs the Small Business Administration. Warren Stephens gave $2 million now ambassador to the United Kingdom. Jared Isaacman gave $2 million now NASA administrator.
And Isabela Herrera, a 25-year-old self-employed financial consultant whose only prior political donation was $20 to Pete Buttigieg in 2020, somehow contributed $3.5 million to MAGA Inc. Her father a Venezuelan billionaire facing federal bribery charges was pardoned by Trump in January 2026. Campaign Legal Center has filed a formal complaint with the FEC alleging she was a straw donor for her father.
This is not dark money. This is public record.
Every dollar, every favor, every pardon. Filed with the FEC. Sitting in plain sight.

Let me get this straight.

Howard Lutnick, Trump’s Commerce Secretary, got caught lying about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Democrats grilled him about it and finally got him to agree to testify before the House Oversight Committee.

Four weeks later, Lutnick wrote a $5 million check to the super PAC that funds House Republicans, including members who sit on that committee. Then he showed up for a closed-door interview where, despite pushback from Democrats, no cameras or recordings were allowed.

This is the most corrupt administration in American history and it’s not even close.
